-Caveat Lector-

Bill Clinton reminds me VERY much of a former boss of mine, who not
coincidentally lost *his* job over his inability to keep his pants zipped. On
the basis of that similarity, let me describe the Prez as I see him:
Bill Clinton is a complete extrovert. He thrives in a crowd, and tends to fall
asleep when not constantly stimulated. His thoughts are always very close to
the surface of his mind, and he often "thinks out loud"--that is, unlike
someone who mulls things over before voicing an opinion, Clinton blurts out
the first thing that comes to mind. He may very well do a complete about-face
in the course of a conversation, which can be very disconcerting to someone
who isn't expecting it. This also means that nothing he says can be trusted
unless you get it in writing with his signature, and even that may be suspect.
He wants desperately to be liked by everyone, and he will say whatever it
takes to get people to like him, even if it means promising two different
people two completely different, and mutually contradictory, things. Because
he is fundamentally insecure, he will defend an off-the-cuff statement
forever, unless and until it becomes clear that it's not really defensible or
he realizes that it conflicts with something he promised someone else.

He is a borderline addictive personality, and needs constant sensory
stimulation to keep himself from succumbing to the particular addiction he is
afraid of (in Clinton's case, this is undoubtedly alcoholism). Unfortunately,
the trap inherent in this approach means that he can easily give in to another
addiction, such as sex, mistaking sex for love. If his wife is cold toward him
sexually, as Hillary seems to be, he will simply look elsewhere for sexual
satisfaction; and since there is never a lack of people who find themselves
sexually attracted to the powerful, he will have plenty of targets for his
attention. He probably has some trouble telling the difference between
affection and sexual attraction, and sometimes even a friendly smile will
generate the unthinking response, "Hey--she's turned on by me!" He is far from
the first politician to fit this description, and there will be many more
after him. In fact, it's clear that there are many examples of this type among
the Republican members of the House of Representatives who voted to impeach
him.

[This analysis does not address the *truly* impeachable things Bill Clinton
has done, such as transferring sensitive military technology to China in
exchange for campaign contributions. I suspect that the reason so little
attention is being given to the real issues is that a decent investigation
would implicate so many people in both major parties that there wouldn't be
anyone left in Washington to run the country except maybe Marion Barry...]
