Actually, it was obvious earlier in the year that Tellytubbies were being
positioned to be the 'fad' toy of the holiday season here in the U.S. --
but then Tiger Industries released the first Furbies in September, and
Tellytubbies are completely ignored, sitting forlornly (some may argue,
'deservably so') in a corner of the store while people riot over the few
Furbies available...
And to keep OT with the conspiracy speculation, for those who aren't
familiar with Tellytubbies, they are in some ways very similar to Furbies
--when pressing their stomach, they babble their own language...but they
aren't as 'interactive' as the Furbies (neither do they have fur coats,
blinking eyes, wiggling ears, etc.), and so lost this year's holiday
competition...
At least Tellytubbies don't fart...but it was reported that one
particular type of Tellytubby was repeatedly stating the word 'faggot',
initiating a recall a few months ago...
