-Caveat Lector- STARR GAVE BROADDRICK IMMUNITY **EXCLUSIVE** SUN DEC 27, 1998 22:09 UTC -- Independent Counsel Ken Starr gave Juanita Broaddrick [Jane Doe #5] full immunity from prosecution earlier this year, according to case intelligence. Broaddrick was given immunity from prosecution for possibly providing false or misleading information in an affidavit filed in the Paula Jones case. Last February, the DRUDGE REPORT alerted readers who were following the Paula Jones sex case that there was great interest swirling around a woman named "Juanita." She was code named "Jane Doe #5." A month later, NBC NEWS star Lisa Myers explored the "Juanita" story in a nightly news shocker: A woman claims she was sexually assaulted by Bill Clinton back in the 1970s! The White House called that allegation "Outrageous" and Starr's office would later determine that Broaddrick's story was too hard to pin down. The OIC left her name out of its impeachment referral, however, it did give Congress background information on the shocking Broaddrick episode. The following is a flashback to the first Myers report on "Juanita" that aired on the NBC national news on Saturday, March 28, 1998: "The explosive new allegation tonight is that President Clinton sexually assaulted a woman 20 years ago in Arkansas. It involves an alleged encounter at this Little Rock hotel in the late 1970s, between then Attorney General Bill Clinton and campaign worker, Juanita Broaddrick. In court documents today, Jones' lawyers claim Clinton quote 'forcibly raped and sexually assaulted' Broaddrick, then quote "bribed and intimidated her" to remain silent. Sources say that Broaddrick, now 54, recently denied under oath that such an assault occurred. But Jones' lawyers claim she had told their investigator she had suffered a quote 'horrible thing' at the hand of Clinton, and did not want to relive it. And NBC NEWS has talked to four people from Arkansas who say Broaddrick told them of such an assault years ago. Today's charge is largely based on a letter from this man, Philip Yoakum, a friend and business associate of the alleged victim. In a letter to Broaddrick, written in 1992, Yoakum, a Republican writes, I was particularly distraught when you told me of your brutal rape by Bill Clinton, how he bit your lip until you gave into his forcing sex upon you.' In an interview with NBC NEWS, Yoakum said Broaddrick told him that Clinton invited himself to her hotel room, allegedly to discuss her nursing home business. Unidentified Reporter: She told you in 1981 that Bill Clinton assaulted her? Mr. PHILLIP YOAKUM (Arkansas Businessman): Mm-hm. Yes, 1981 is when she told me. Reporter: Did you believe her at the time? Mr. YOAKUM: I believed her. MYERS: Yoakum admits he is no fan of the president and that he unsuccessfully tried to get Broaddrick to tell her story when Clinton first ran for president. Mr. YOAKUM: And she says, Who would believe me, little old Juanita from Van Buren?' MYERS: There was another woman at that hotel that day, a nurse and friend of Broaddrick who says she iced her friend's face after the assault. In a telephone interview with NBC News, this woman, who admits she dislikes Clinton, said Broaddrick was distraught, her lips were swollen at least double in size. She told me they had intercourse against her will.' Again a White House spokesman dismissed the charge as outrageous, false, and the work of the president's long-time political opponents.' The White House also noted that Broaddrick herself already denied the allegation under oath. Tonight, Broaddrick had no comment X X X X X REPORT: WHITE HOUSE FIGHT; SECRET SERVICE PULLS FURIOUS FIRST LADY OFF PRESIDENT THU DEC 24, 1998 16:08:55 UTC -- Hillary Clinton has finally snapped! The NATIONAL ENQUIRER is set to report in its January 5, 1999 edition: The First Lady has physically attacked the President, hitting him so hard she left a visible mark on his face -- and Secret Service agents had to separate them. The DRUDGE REPORT trusts the account to be accurate and non-libelous because the NATIONAL ENQUIRER and President Bill Clinton use the same law firm, Williams & Connolly! In fact, Clinton's private lawyer, David Kendall, has directly done work for the tabloid through the years. "Keep that bitch away from me!" Bill Clinton told one Secret Service agent. One inside source tells the ENQUIRER that the White House became a battleground after the impeachment controversy moved into overdrive. "The verbal fights between Bill and Hillary have been escalating and now the President has been physically assaulted." "Hillary just snapped. She lost it and smacked the President upside the head. He was stunned. The hit was so hard it left a visible bruise, and he put on makeup for several days to cover the red spot." The DRUDGE REPORT has learned that the ENQUIRER is planning to run the account in a Cover Page Screamer. "Secret Service agents had to physically separate them to keep the apart. Hillary went off to another room. At one point the President told an agent, 'Keep that bitch away from me. I don't want to do anything that'll get me in more trouble." The ENQUIRER reveals that just hours before the couple walked out of the White House holding hands after the impeachment vote on December 19, there was an explosion in the Presidential quarters -- the First Lady was doing most of the screaming. The tabloid also claims that Bill Clinton is back on the fast food train! "The President is a mess. He's been gorging on fast foods again," an insider tells the ENQUIRER in the special report. Impacting on newsstands next monday. X X X X X CLINTON TO BILL TAXPAYERS FOR HIS LEGAL COSTS IN SENATE TRIAL President Bill Clinton will let the taxpayers pick up the costs of his legal defense in the upcoming Senate impeachment trial, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned. Unlike America's only other impeached president, Andrew Johnson, who paid for his lawyers out of his own pocket during his Senate trial -- he personally hired five lawyers, including his attorney general, and paid them $2,000 each [$30,000 in today's money] -- Bill Clinton is planning to let the Treasury Department cut the checks! After all, as one Clinton ally explained on Tuesday, "the Republicans who started this thing have been stealing from the taxpayers to put on this sick show from the very beginning!" It is not clear if there is a cap on what the president can spend to mount his defense, or to what degree the White House counsel's office can be used to help build the case. Senate rules do allow for the legal costs of a defendant in an impeachment trial to be reimbursed by public funds. DRUDGE TIP: Buy stock in Williams & Connolly. Number One, Schippers is staying to help with Senate trial. While only House members can be managers, Schippers will be there to work backup. He's also staying to help with oversight hearings looking into the Justice Department's independent counsel decisions, it has been learned. X X X X X TALKSHOW GUEST SABOTAGED **Exclusive** MON DEC 21, 1998 23:59:22 UTC -- A mystery woman who was set to appear for the first time on television this week to reveal fresh stories about "Clinton corruption" has been hit with an intimidation campaign, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned! Former Arkansas state auditor [1981 to 1995], Julia Hughes Jones, was scheduled to appear on CNBC's HARDBALL with Chris Matthews on Tuesday. Jones, according to an insider, was going to use the HARDBALL appearance to tell stories that have not yet publicly been told about Gov. Bill Clinton and his Arkansas associates -- stories that Julie Hughes Jones is preparing to detail in an explosive tell-all book. But sometime over the weekend, two files from Julia Hughes Jones' computer were mysteriously corrupted. Files that contained information she was going to fax to HARDBALL producers! "Someone over the weekend broke into her computer and destroyed a memo of talking points that she had typed up to Chris Matthews and his producers, ahead of her appearance," a source close to Jones revealed late Monday night. Jones, who now lives in Florida, had just returned from Little Rock where she attend her father's funeral when she noticed the corrupted files that had contained notes of names and events she wanted to bring up on HARDBALL. There may also be evidence that her computer was used to print out documents while she was out of town. Ms. Jones is said to be the ultimate Arkansas insider. "Clinton doesn't know what she knows, but he knows that she knows a great deal," claims an associate who has seen an early manuscript of her book. "She was friends with Charlie Trie for 12 years. She even went to China with him once. She knows many untold stories about Hillary Clinton." But on Monday, HARDBALL mysteriously called-off her appearance. She has apparently been rescheduled for early 1999, a show source confirmed. _________________________________________________ Reports are moved when circumstances warrant (c)DRUDGE REPORT 1998 Not for reproduction without permission of the author DECLARATION & DISCLAIMER ========== CTRL is a discussion and informational exchange list.
