-Caveat Lector-

Are there any statisitcs / facts about how many of these media folks have
ever been sent into a combat situation -- with a weapon ?

Al Haig ALSO said (if I recall correctly) on Fox that the initiative was
LOST back in 1990-91 when the previous administration capitulated on the
problem. It is interesting how someone's 'genderhood' can be proven by
sending others into a conflict. I recall Schwartzkopf ("Black Head"?) was
bouncing all over the place in Jan 1991. As a matter of national will, the
military is one of the last efforts to be used in accomplishing same. Al
Haig has had decades more military experience than the President has had --
including SE Asia. If Haig did indeed consider the Bush policy way back
then to be in error, he will have only echoed other generals' similar
sentiments. Problem was Schwartkopf was prone to wanting his way --
including holding back from finishing the Republican Guard's role in life,
resulting in the extermination of the Kurds and other "internal" affairs.

: By reducing the prospect of the bombing to a mano a mano contest, the
: media turned the crisis into a measure of Clinton's manhood. "Who
: blinked?" asked the Times. The president, of course, responded a New
: York Post editorial, because he "just couldn't...act like a man." On
: Fox, Al Haig, as one might expect, had an even more hysterically macho
: formulation: Clinton's response would be "limp-wristed."
