June,
While what you say is true that if the calenders are correct, the millenium
begins on Jan 1, 2001, most if not all of the world is doing the millenium
celebration on Jan 1, 2000.
I suspect that if the world is going to "Yawn" on Jan 1, 2001.
When I mentioned "if the calenders are correct," years ago I took a college
class in which the various calenders and such were discussed. The professor
presented information based upon 30 plus years of research on known and little
known calender descrepencys which happened during what we know as the "dark
ages."
What I remember from years ago was it was *possible* that the millenium
began
in the early 70s, or early 90s...and it was even possible that the millenium
actually begins
in what we know as the years 2004 or in that area...or 2001 could be the
correct date.
As you may already know, from the point of view of some in Christianity,
that Ushers? dating method (which suggested Adam/Eve/Creation to have
happened in 4004 BC) suggested that the *biblical millennium according to
Ushers calculations* began on Jan 1 1998.
Pont being in all of this is while the world celebrates on Jan 1, 2000,
while religious people are waiting for various cantations of "the end of the
world," the likely answer will be the world will continue on. Other then
another year rolling over which according to the
worlds reckoning is the beginning of the millennium, nothing much will change.
Cheers,
Robert
