of the oldest churches in Southeast Asia was burned down by Muslim rioters

Five Explorer mission proposals face feasibility studies. (NASA) Spacecraft
to help answer some of the biggest questions in space science are candidates
for NASA's medium-class Explorer (MIDEX) program. These MIDEX proposals are:
1) The Swift Gamma Ray Burst Explorer, a 3-telescope space observatory to
study gamma ray bursts. 2) The Next Generation Sky Survey (NGSS), a 4-chan-
nel, supercooled infrared telescope to survey the entire sky with 1,000
times more sensitivity than before. 3) The Full-sky Astrometric Mapping
Explorer (FAME), a space telescope to obtain highly precise measurements of
40 million stars. 4) The Auroral Multiscale Midex Mission (AMM), 4 small
satellites to study electrical connections between Earth's ionosphere and
magnetosphere. 5) The Advanced Solar Coronal Explorer (ASCE), a powerful
solar telescope to study physical processes in the Sun that lead to the
solar wind and explosive coronal mass ejections. NASA has also selected
instruments from two proposed MIDEX missions for development funding: 1) an
X-ray detector for studying black holes of all sizes, and 2) detectors for
studying waves in the Earth's upper atmosphere.
