BEDROOM EYES. Americans are lousy in the sack. Or a lot of them are, anyway.
Nearly 1/3 of men and 43% of women suffer from some sort of sexual dysfunc-
tion - either they don't like it, don't want it, or aren't any good at it.
The JAMA study, billed as the most significant survey of American sexual
behavior since the landmark Kinsey report in 1948, details a smorgasbord of
hang-ups and physical problems: lack of desire, difficult arousal, premature
orgasms (or no orgasm at all), pain during sex, fear of failure, and sex
without pleasure. So that's why Viagra's sales are skyrocketing. Fukitall -

@ BOTSPOT. Even tho bots are the current rage in portals and the Internet,
they've actually been around for more than 30 years. What's a bot? Short for
"robot," a bot is an electro.sentry - AKA an intelligent agent - that scours
the Web to help you find what it is you're looking for. It's kind of like a
search engine, but a bot is a little more fine-tuned and personalizable,
able to adapt to your needs and learn from previous retrievals. 3-year-old
BotSpot is the site to visit if you want to learn more about these programs
and where to find the best ones. The site profiles a "bot of the week,"
reviews the selected bots, and provides a glimpse at this fascinating and
burgeoning area of computing. See http://www.botspot.com

: Will bots, borgs and other AI/ALs ever gain citizenship? Will they have
religions, politics, arts, sports, or are they too smart for that? Why?

*** S. Korea embraces Chinese characters. SEOUL (AP) - Stepping into one of
South Korea's oldest debates, Pres. Kim DaeJung has ordered the use of
Chin-ese characters in gov't documents and on street signs. The move has
drawn fire from some Korean linguists. 30 Korean language scholars and
Activists chanted: "Stop the linguistic contamination!" during a rally in
front of the main government complex in Seoul. South Korea is proud of the
556-year-old Korean alphabet, called Hangul. Ancient Koreans borrowed
Chinese characters to record their communications. In 1443, King Sejong of
Korea's last Yi dynasty invented and promulgated the Korean alphabet. See

*** Jan. sets tornado record. WASHINGTON (AP) - Springlike weather patterns
produced a record 163 tornadoes over the US in January 1999, the most ever
for the first month of the year. The total is more than three times the
previous record, 52, in January 1975. The January tornadoes were caused by
an unusual weather pattern for the month: a southerly flow of wind from the
Gulf of Mexico, which brought in moisture at low levels, and then combined
with a strong upper air pressure, which causes wind at about 30,000 feet.

*** Lovers visit St. Valentine's grave. DUBLIN, Eire (AP) A quiet Carmelite
priory off a bustling Dublin street holds a special place in Irish hearts,
for here lie the revered remains of St. Valentine. At least, that's what the
splintering 163-year-old parchment from Pope Gregory XVI says - although the
Roman Catholic Church may have left St. Valentine's heart in Scotland and
reserved other martyred body parts for his Italian hometown. But that won't
dissuade romantic Dubliners from claiming Valentine as theirs, and theirs
alone. See http://www.infobeat.com/stories/cgi/story.cgi?id=2558402895-89e

: Does your religion have saints for fertility? Are supernatural entities
required or optional for reproductive processes? Who's the saint of divorce?
