-Caveat Lector-

You know ... I think the issues centre around *what* law has precedence.
Yes, yes, we have a bazzillion laws on the books, dealing with all kinds of
human events, including fraud. That to which I refer is the 'law' that
corporate and other power-mongering types yield to as their primary
motivator. it seems with tobacco and some of the others, it's the
unwritten/unspoken law of the particular culture in which they live that
rules over all else; ordinary law becomes less important, at times a mere
nuisance. So, when there is discussion of 'secret societies' and shadow
groups and the like, it becomes necessary to understand decisions and
policies from that perspective rather than the run-o'da'mill John/Jane Q.
Citizen, who, although as real as any other person, becomes an abstraction,
a statistic, an indicator or a proof of the (I need a name here)(inanh ?),
okay - of the inanh's 'law' (motivation). Sales are up, therefore, the
product is good; polls are down, therefore, the policies need adjusting.
It becomes not a matter of the law of the land or the good of the people --
as generally or universally applied; rather, it becomes the law, the good
of the tiny little group. Not satisfying THAT group constitutes "breaking
the law".
