Kennedy" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: LET'S Help the Kogi Please network this message to family, friends, neighbours, colleagues, newsgroups etc... through whatever means of communication you have available. tjk :) *************************************************************************** This message "LET'S Help the Kogi" is to share a few details about the Kogi, Sequoyah Trueblood's mission of 1999 and how LETS can become a part of our commitment to help the Kogi. In 1991 Alan Ereira, an English filmmaker made an 88 minute film on the Kogi - an enigmatic people who live in an inaccessible mountainous area of Colombia. This intriguing film travels deep into the mountain jungles of Columbia to meet the Kogi, the last remnant of a pre-Colombian people who believe they are the "elder brothers" of the human race. The Kogi believe that their self- imposed mission is to keep the "heartbeat" of planet earth alive through prayer and meditation and with a little help from we - their "younger brothers". Convinced that modern civilization is on a perilous path to total destruction, the Kogi high priests emerged from centuries of isolation to issue a final warning and permitted Alan Ereira to make this film in 1991. At the end of that film they waved and closed a door and vowed that it would be the last time they would try to communicate with the outside world. The film was shown on BBS in Britian and on PBS in America on some occasions in 1991 but the mainstream media maligned the film and labelled it as a "fake" and "quackery" and the Kogi message never really got delivered to the masses as they had anticipated. Eight years passed and the pain experienced by Mother Earth has intensified. The Kogi communicate telepathically and they started to communicate in this manner with Sequoyah Trueblood - an internationally known Native American Healer and Teacher who makes his home in Canada - in early 1999 as they saw that we "younger brothers" on planet earth were still moving towards self- destruction and had not heeded their message of 1991. In one last attempt to invite us to use our free will to save ourselves from final self-destruction the Kogi invited Sequoyah Trueblood to take their message of "getting back to our true origins" and "finding out who we really are" to the people of planet earth so that we may change our ways and work to alleviate the pain that we are causing to our Mother Earth. The Kogi explained in the 1991 video that the "Heart of the World" is being seriously threatened by our continual cutting down of trees and digging minerals from the earth. They point out the seriousness of the problem of the world as it is growing hotter and relate this climate change to our stripping the land of trees which takes away the water from the land causing the sun to heat it and parch it. The Kogi explained that if we do not change our ways immediately the world will cease to be fertile and it will die a rapid death. They do not ask us to be like them but they do ask that we become sensitised to the origin and continuation of life on planet earth for the benefit of ourselves and of the spirits which inhabit our universe. The Kogi ask that we stop taking fossil fuels from the ground and that we stop cutting trees as we do. Though the Kogi asked that we the "younger brothers" take these actions in 1991 to save ourselves but we did not listen for whatever reason(s). In early January 1999, the Kogi people contacted Sequoyah Trueblood telepathically through dreams of living in a paradise and a few days later he was invited to visit The Heart of the World. On January 10,1999 Sequoyah Trueblood was summoned by a telephone call to go to Colombia with a Mayan elder (woman). He had a friend drive him to Boston where he met the Mayan elder and together they departed by plane for Colombia during the second week of January 1999. He spent 9 days with the Kogi people learning from them and helping to prepare a message for the President of Colombia and his top level politicians. On the day that the Kogi people came down from the mountains with Sequoyah Trueblood to deliver their statements to the President Of Colombia the earthquake occurred. The Kogi had communicated to Seyquoyah Trueblood that something significant would happen to draw close attention to the information that they were sharing with the President of Colombia in January 1999 so that he could not dismiss their mission as frivolous. The people of Colombia are predominately of the Catholic faith and they regard "earthquakes" as a significant message from God and so the President of Colombia listened and heeded their message. Sequoyah Trueblood's mission is described as disseminating the Kogi message to the world immediately. He is currently touring Canada and he will return to the "Heart of the Mountain" in April 1999. Sequoyah Trueblood hosted a "Healing Circle" at Kemptville, Ontario, Canada today, February 15, 1999. Late this afternoon he left Kemptville to meditate and pray with some elder native peoples at a reservation near Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He implored that each of us do likewise on a daily basis and send out "love" to heal Mother Earth. At today's encounter with Sequoyah Trueblood I passed along to him a file containing detailed information which I have researched and collected over the past 16 years about the development and evolution of the LETS (Local Employment Trading System) software and how it can deliver a usury-free currency to everyone all around planet earth with ease. Sequoyah Trueblood expressed appreciation to me for sharing the LETS information with him. He noted that "barter" was a part of the heritage of Native North American culture. He indicated that he would carefully review the information and discuss the concept of "barter" in general and "LETS" specifically with other Native American elders and with the Kogi people when he returns to communicate with them in April 1999. Sequoya Trueblood believes that the concept of barter has a definite place in the creation and evolution of the "balance" needed here on planet earth at this critical time but he had not yet heard about the development of the popular, worldwide LETS software which is now positioned to deliver "usury-free" economics to the whole world with ease. Intuitively, I know that spirit led me to share the LETS information with him today and I know that Sequoyah Trueblood will tell people everywhere about LETS - the perfect model of a "usury-free" banking system. It is exciting to know that a Global LETS is within the realm of possibility and potentially it can happen very quickly. I have just searched the web and found that the video "From The Heart Of The World" is available from this URL for Mystic Fire: http://www.levity.com/mysticfire/NPKogi.html Here is a brief descrition of the video "From The Heart of the World" as described at the Mysticfire website: "The Kogi Indians are the descendants of the ancient Tairona civilization of pre-Columbian America that vanished 400 years ago. For four centuries the Kogis have watched us from their mountain fastness. They call themselves the Elder Brothers of the human race, and are convinced that we, the Younger Brothers, will soon destroy the balance of life on earth. They believe that the only hope is for us to change our ways, and have set out to teach us what they know about nature and the spiritual world. Aluna is the Mother, whose law is harmony and balance. The whole of Kogi life revolves around this life force that shapes the world and makes it flower." Today's "Healing Circle" was videotaped and is available for a donation of $10.00 (plus $5.00 postage and handling) from The Cyberclass Network. ($5.00 from each video goes directly to support Sequoyah Trueblood's mission to spread the Kogi message.) Sequoyah Trueblood explained that it is unusual for an elder like himself to permit a "Healing Circle" ceremony to be videotaped but that he deemed it necessary to use the available technology to help network this critical information far and wide as quickly as possible. I've done some thinking regarding the Global Interest Free Currency Group. I'd like to assemble a list of voting members and a list of the board of directors. Voting members get one or more Global Dollar (G$) accounts, and can of course vote, run for positions on the board and initiate referendums. The board of directors has the power to make most decisions (power is ultimately limited by the voting members). Currently the following people may be interested in being voting members: Maria Lvfors Evan Morris Tom J. Kennedy John Thomas Paul Dumais It seems quite silly post a list of voting members just now since to be of any use the GIFCG will need thousands of members. A system of unique identity verification will probably be required along with an integrated, automated member sign-up database. Currently the following people appear interested in forming the initial ad hock board of directors: John Thomas Paul Dumais I would like to officially invite everyone interested in forming the Global Interest Free Currency Group (GIFCG) to reply on this list. The first 8 people to volunteer will form the initial ad hock board of directors. These people will remain on the board until they resign or an election is held. I'm guessing we'll hold an election when we have a minimum of 30 voting members. I'm investigating a simple on-line chat program that would allow the board of directors to hold real-time meetings and that would also allow the general public to listen. The general public could also participate after the meeting is over. These meetings could be held every week or two. It works for anyone who uses a java capable browser and who is not behind a fire wall. If this is not practical we can try using client software or telnet. We can continue to use this list to communicate in an unstructured fashion. However, we'll need to set up a web site which posts our resolutions, proceedings and minutes and services, etc.. The page should have links to the online chat page and perhaps a web based forum. Perhaps Evan can help us with this. I'm also willing to provide web space and I might be able to install a web forum. I suck at site design though. I would like to have a test meeting using this client. If you are interested in being a member of the board reply on this list with a short introduction (if you aren't one of the people I've already heard from) and let me know what days/hours are not good for you. Try to be flexible since we'll have to accommodate people from many time zones. I'm proposing that we shoot for Saturdays 5 PM GMT. This would mean 10 am for me and probably 5 PM for John. Let me know what you think. Let me now propose an agenda. Old Business 1. Approval of last weeks minutes. New Business 1. Introduction of the board of directors and acceptance of new members of the board. 2. How do we create a membership and what is the membership entitled to. 3. General vision for the operation of the GIFCG. 4. Base unit of currency. 5. Duties of the board of directors/ assignment of positions w/titles. 6. Critique of the Global Resource Bank 7. Communications with world population. I propose we cap the meeting at 3 hours in length. The secretary or web master would ensure the minutes of the meeting with the resolutions highlighted get posted. Any items that we didn't have time to discuss or resolve would get put on the agenda for the following week. I would like to volunteer as chairperson. If anyone else would like to chair the board please post to the list. Our first task is to establish a board of directors and lay down the ground rules for communications. I'll give everyone a chance to respond and then I'll give you the details on how to participate in the board's first group meeting. Let me respond to Evan: "Hi Paul As I said previously, I will be willing to do whatever I can, whether it is disseminating information, writing articles, making a noise or whatever. I am really not au fait with most economic principles and concepts, so perhaps the skills I can offer lie in different areas. I am a web designer and freelance author, so make of that what you can." PD: These skills would be very usefull. "My personal "economic study history", so to speak, consists almost entirely of having read non-academic books on the subject. I spent a good portion of my life - from age 14 to 24, to be precise - as an avid devotee of Ayn Rand. Then, quite suddenly and simply, one day while crossing the road, the whole edifice of capitalist philosophy sank out from under me. I am not entirely sure why. It occurred to me that there was a fundamental error of first principles in Ayn Rand's philosophy, and it is this: the assumption that property (ownership) is the basis of humanity. This is simply not true. And I then began to see that all our so-called "diverse" economic systems, throughout history, have merely been arguments about control of ownership; in this sense, they are ALL capitalist ideologies, since their main focus is capital. Communism, socialism, laissez-faire and so on, all are merely bickering about who gets to control capital. But what if capital is an artificial construct? What if capital DOES NOT EXIST? What if ownership is rationally untenable. I do not mean to ask: "What if ownership is morally wrong?" I mean to ask: "What if ownership is PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE?" This led me on a whole other train of reading. I stopped off at Karl Marx and found him basically unreadable, and so moved on to less weightily worded texts. I also read some seriously wacky fringe writers like David Icke, who - for all his insistence on Illuminati and other spaced out subjects - was the first person to clearly show me how money arose and why charging interest on money is so absurd. Money, today, exists at the whim of the people who create it. It is merely a digital ghost. But if you forfeit payment of interest on this non- object, your personal world of objects can be disrupted. This is to say, if you don't pay the interest on something that doesn't exist, they will deny you things that do exist, like food and so on. This struck me as patently ridiculous. I also then investigated the serious philosophers, going back to the pre- Socratics, in an attempt to find a satisfying definition of and justification for the concept of ownership. I failed. Please bear in mind here that I am not saying that citizens must own nothing and all material wealth must be centralized; this makes the same ridiculous assumption as the capitalists have made, which is that SOMEBODY must own things. What I am saying is - like most early acephalous societies did say (which is why they got steam-rollered by the Europeans) - that it is simply impossible to own things. Ownership is sustained entirely by force of arms or the threat of force of arms. It is not civilized, but precisely the opposite. In any event, I have written essays on this subject and will not go into it any further now, for fear that you have limited time to read this sort of thing. I will gladly mail you an essay of mine entitled "Why I Am In Favour of Acephalous Anarchy", if you wish." PD: This shows me that you are an indipendent thinker. Formal economics education is probably a hinderence in any case. I would like to encourage your participation in the board of directors at least until we can find a replacement. Our current debt-based power system is responsible for much suffering in this word. Your immediate participation would probably reduce the number of lives lost due to the lack of a global interest free alternative. "Again, I will help in any way I can, which I suspect might only be through vocalizing and informing, rather than organizing and planning." PD: Any help will always be appreciated. It is our duty to free wage slaves everywhere. "Yours Evan Morris Exclusive Books.Com Tel: +27 11 792 2777 Fax: +27 11 792 2711 [EMAIL PROTECTED]" My reply to John Thomas: "Dear Paul Dumais, Thanks for your email. The reason I posted it directly to you is quite simple. I am not sure how to post it on the forum! Up to press, I have been merely an observer quietly watching the debates rage. I would be quite happy to post onto the forum and if it is as simple as emailing [EMAIL PROTECTED] then that's what I will do in the future. I'll try it now. I've not been that long on the net and certain things are not yet second nature to me. To business. Like yourself, I have no ambitions to be in control. I am quite happy to be on the beach with a glass of wine strumming my instrument with my feet up, etc. It is only because the world has entered such a dangerous and precarious state that I concern myself with the problem and cure. I would not have chosen to look at and study the banking system and so-called economics [bankonomics] for intrinsic interest - it is so completely boring and wretchedly tedious. But, out of necessity, my studies have continued. I just want a better world to live in without all this pointless needless suffering I like your opening tentative statements: 1. No one member of the GIFCG has more power than any other except where such power is granted by the membership via an open and democratic process. 2. Goal: To create a simple, global interest free currency. 3. The first 8 volunteering members of the GIFCG form an ad hock board of directors until the membership reaches 30 members. At this point an election will be held for the established positions in the board. 4. Regardless of any powers vested in the board of directors, any charter or by-law may be removed or initiated via referendum at any time. 5. All GIFCG business must be open to public scrutiny. This would likely mean that all resolutions are posted (on web) and all communications are archived (e-mail or web forum). This is nice and democratic and allows me to fade away from the scene and retire when the GIFCG is up and running and actively solving the dual problem of world poverty and environmental rape in the name of financial profit. Agenda items. Mmm. I would like to hear opinions on the Global Resource Bank [EMAIL PROTECTED] and another item could be the standard basis upon which the currency would stand. My personal preference would be a unit time of labour since this is equitable across the world and does not fluctuate with the whims and fancies of dealers in remote "markets". We will also find that communication with the poor (and others) of the world will be a problem that will need great attention. I would also say that time is of the essence for a number of reasons. Y2K waits for no man and my information suggests that certain key areas of the current financial system are nowhere near ready. A collapse of the current money masters system would mean very little immediate change to the multitudes of the poor but would have disastrous results on the developed world. So, there's 3 basic items I think should be included in the agenda of the group (group status confirmed by the Concise Oxford Dictionary) - Global Resource Bank, Base Unit of Currency, and the attainment of good, speedy communications with the people who do not have anything like a computer to help. I say we should bypass the conventional brainwashed economists and not waste breath on them arguing on this matter. Remember that there are none so blind as those who will not see. Consult with the poor and give them the good news directly (but how?). These are the matters I wish to discuss and I look forward to some good exchange of ideas from those who know of the filthy business of the bankers and also know of practical solutions like LETS, etc. We can do it but we must act urgently. I hope I can be of service. With respect and regards to monetary reformists everywhere. John Thomas England In a world of PLENTY, there is no need for POVERTY and DEBT. We have the technology to feed, house and clothe all people on EARTH without destroying our environment. Whatever is physically possible and socially desirable can be made financially possible. This is EVERYONE'S CONCERN and it is URGENT. " PD: Thank-you for your reply. I agree with your sentiments. Many of use are wealthy enough to sit on the dry side of the sinking boat and don't want to be bothered with trying to improve the system for all. Your comments have shown me that it is the duty of those who are not as concerned with finding a decent meal to eat to find a way to better the lives of those who are battling day to day with such concerns. I hope my comments above meet with your approval. I would like to talk with you in real-time if possible. I want to feel a close connection with you and others who share the same purpose. I would also like to introduce myself in a more extensive manner as well. Am I correct in assuming you'd like to be on the initial board of directors? In response to Tom Kennedy: "Greetings: I wholeheartedly support the concept of a Global Interest Free Currency Group. It might just describe those Letsers who are opposed to our efforts to implement a usury-free "Global LETS" "It takes brains to understand a brilliant idea, but none to be offended by it" " PD: I have to admit that I have not taken the time to fully investigate these URL's. I would however like to ask whether you would like to participate on the board of directors for the GIFCG. ______________________________________________________________________________ _ ______________________________________________________________________________ _
