They also agreed to pay : a FEC administrative fine. 2/16 : : Simon Fireman, a millionaire businessman from Boston, filed a : malpractice suit against the lawyer who defended him in a 1996 campaign : finance case, which cost Aqua-Leisure Inc and himself $6 million. 2/12 : : A federal court struck down North Carolina's decades-long ban on : corporate campaign contributions. 2/18 : : A federal court struck down portions of Iowa's campaign finance laws : that among other things would allow corporations to give unlimited : amounts of money to political committees. 2/10 : : A state appeals court in New York reinstated a shareholder lawsuit : against Michael Zinn, former head of Besicorp. A shareholder alleged : improper use of $800,000 of corporate funds to defend Zinn in his : campaign finance case.
