Fascinating assessment by Mike Levine. There are so many ways we're
feeding the coffers of corporations which are completely counter-productive to
the welfare of the people.
Cures for cancer could be (have been?) quashed because cancer is big
business, products on the market make us ill to keep doctors employed, peace
is not pursued because production and sales of weapons is so profitable. And
then there is the drug war...
A personal injury attorney on another email list complained about air-
bags, not for the usual reasons that keep popping up here & there, but because
they prevent the serious injuries that keep his bank account nice & plump.
It's all so damned depressing. Will the profit motive ever be overtaken
by mutual concern?
