Where previous kings employed the talents of fools as lightning rods to discharge popular venom, Bill Clinton, true progressive, has employed his own alter ego as court jester. Bill Clinton is really a unique president. The one Clinton is intellectual, proper, appropriate, and tailored to the tie he wears. The other Clinton is a buffoon, who mocks the strait-laced imposter. Absent a court jester, Bill Clinton himself fills the gap. He plays two roles: icon of yuppiedom and clown prince. In this way he masterfully controls both sides of the equation. He is both extreme pontificator and extreme boob. And both personas laugh all the way, to the way, to the Clinton Way. The way is the way: it's the Clinton way. Getting there is all the fun. To be the merry picaroon, both stentorious and sloppy -- it's all part of the fun. And we've had a great time. Yet it's all on the way. (And the Clinton way is just a way.) Thanks for the laughs, Bill Clinton. And we are confident that you will masterfully play the fiddle -- serious Bill and Bill the Buffoon -- for some time yet. So look forward to Serious Bill, Pontifical Bill, followed (inexplicably?) by Bozo Bill and Bill the Clown. And it will just go on.
