SUPERSONIC DELAY
Pentagon, Virginia
The NAVY has delayed initial proposals for the Super Sonic Sea
Skimming Target (SSST) project. The delay announcement came
within hours of a SOFTWAR request to interview the civilian head
of the project, DOD Undersecretary Buchanan.

The project, already delayed for eight years, has run into more
trouble by trying to purchase Russian built ZVEZDA Kh-31
missiles to serve for the USN target. The Russian contractor,
Zvezda, claimed to have already won a contract not yet issued
and openly bragged the profits would fund improvements for
Russian missiles being offered in the middle-east.
