RALLIES TO STOP IMPEACHMENT

PHILADELPHIA, December 15-- The following statement was released today
by State Rep. Harold James,
Chairman of the Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus. This statement has
alsobeen endorsed by Missouri State
Rep. Charles Quincy Troupe, Alabama State Rep. Thomas Jackson and Louisiana
State Rep.Charles Hudson; Joe
Towns, state rep, Memphis, TN; Theo Mitchell, former state senator,
Greenville, SC; Herbert Fielding, former
state senator, Charleston, SC; and Dennis Dellwo, former state rep, Spokane,
WA, who are also initiators of the
ad hoc committee, Americans to Save the Presidency.
I am calling upon all Americans to join us in an all-out, non-partisan
mobilization to stop the impeachment of
the President.
On September 6, 1998, I joined with 12 other legislators to launch a
petition drive to Save the Presidency. We
pointed to the many crises facing the nation and the world today, and said
that "the future of all humanity rests on
what the President of the United States does in the days and weeks
immediately ahead."
We addressed a message to the members of the U.S. Congress, reminding
them of their constitutional
responsibility to support our President in protecting "the vital interests
of our nation and people, in this time of
grave crisis." We concluded: "Any action otherwise, under the current
conditions, is the moral equivalent of
treason...." We agreed to make the people remember, every November.
The American people responded to our message. Thirty thousand
signatures were delivered to the White
House on October 22, including over 300 state legislators from 41 states,
240 other elected officials, 225 trade
union leaders, 330 Democratic Party officials, and over 350 religious, civic
and civil rights leaders. Prominent
signers from Pennsylvania included Philadelphia Mayor Ed Rendell, and former
State Treasurer Catherine Baker
Knoll.
The American people also spoke on Election Day, November 3. Whereas
Newt Gingrich had predicted that
Republicans could gain 40 House seats, they actually LOST 5 seats, which is
the first time the party in control of
the White House has gained seats in a midterm election since 1934. Some of
the most extreme anti-Clinton
Republican incumbents, like Alfonse D'Amato of New York and Lauch Faircloth
of North Carolina, were booted
out of office by the voters. Even Gingrich got the message, resigning both
the Speaker's chair and his own House
seat.
After all of this, a group of extremist Republicans are still
determined to overturn the will of the American
people, by railroading an impeachment vote through the House. We, the
American people -- Republican,
Democrat, Independent and all others -- must rise up now, to defeat this
attempted overthrow of the elected
government of the United States.
Join us, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, and other elected officials and
religious leaders, in a Prayer Vigil at the Capitol
in Washington, D.C., from 10 am to 2 pm this Thursday, December 17.
I am also calling for vigils and rallies outside the district offices
of Congressmen around the country, or outside
Federal Buildings and/or other public places, on Wednesday, December 16.
Our message is: NO IMPEACHMENT. Enough is enough! Let the President
do his job, because that's what
the American people want.

AFL-CIO PRESIDENT SWEENEY: NO TO IMPEACHMENT. Finally, and
contrary to earlier news reports today, John Sweeney and the
AFL-CIO have come out saying NO to impeachment. According to a
fax received from the AFL-CIO late today, President Sweeney said
"the effort to impeach President Clinton has moved beyond reason
and responsibility." He called for intense action from unions,
urging union members to turn out for a demonstration and vigil on
the steps of the U.S. Capitol on Thurs. from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00
p.m. (this is the same time and place as the rally called by
Jesse Jackson and the Rainbow Coalition, though Sweeney does not
mention that). He also asked unions to "do everything you can"
to encourage members and activists to contact their members of
Congress to vote NO on impeachment by calling the AFL-CIO
toll-free line. Unions whose congressmen are still undecided are
urged to participate in congressional district vigils and to
"take whatever action you can to communicate our outrage to

LAROUCHE DECLARES WAR ON GORE AS A NATIONAL SECURITY RISK
Dec. 14 -- In the Dec. 18, 1998 issue of Executive Intelligence
Review (EIR), Lyndon H. LaRouche, Jr., founder and contributing
editor of EIR, declares war on Vice President Albert Gore, Jr.,
who, LaRouche says, should be "put under foreign policy wraps,''
in the interests of protecting both U.S. national security, and
the Presidency itself.
In his article, ``Why Expose Gore's Record Now?" which is
part of a ground-breaking EIR Special Feature, LaRouche writes:
``The onrushing disintegration of the world's financial
system, makes certain immediate, drastic changes in U.S. foreign
and economic policies an absolute imperative.... This issue is a
life-or-death question for our nation. Given Gore's manifest
disposition for fits of impassioned, bi-polar irrationality, the
most vital national-security interests of the nation demand that
he be relieved of the means to continue to sabotage and obstruct
those policy deliberations which must now be ongoing among our
nation's political leadership.''
Referencing the Nov. 1, 1998 {Daily Telegraph} limited but
accurate expose of the Gore family's record of political
corruption "in the pocket '' of Armand Hammer, LaRouche explains
that the responsibility falls on himself and EIR, to expose what
the {Telegraph} would never publish:
``Al Gore has deep, long-standing, close connections to a
wide assortment of some of the most savage among President Bill
Clinton's most impassioned, and nastiest, Zionist far-right-wing
and other political and personal enemies, the recently retired
Newt Gingrich and Conrad Black notably included.''
``The time to speak out, came on the day, in Kuala Lumpur,
when Vice-President Gore made an ass of the United States
government before the entire world. Admittedly ... he created a
scandal which has ruined forever his chances of becoming
President ... but, that is only the surface of the crucial
national-security problem he created by his behavior.''
``...Gore's foolish actions, like the treachery of the
Confederacy's Jefferson Davis, crossed the bloody line. He went
beyond his usual childish foolishness, and crossed that line,
which defines where U.S. national-security ends, and intolerable
conduct begins.''
With pungency and force, LaRouche warns U.S. citizens and
international allies, of the danger that Gore represents:
``The immediate issue is...that [Gore] has demonstrated his
intent to wreck any Clinton policy which does not please the
bi-polar Mr. Al Gore....He reacts with rage -- the pure and
simple bi-polar rage of a corn-ball Napoleon -- against whomever
he sees as `getting in his way.' See his connections to
super-grifter George Soros, for example; see his unmasked lunatic
rage displayed againt the enemy of his crony Soros, Prime
Minister Mahathir, at Kuala Lumpur.... That brutish sort of
mind-set must never be allowed to occupy the position of our
republic's Commander in Chief.''
LaRouche's strategic study tears the veil off two of the
Gore machine's biggest lies: that Gore's threats and deals
abroad are extensions of Bill Clinton's foreign policy; and that
if anybody attacks Gore, they are de facto helping elect George
Bush, Jr. as president in the year 2000.
