My thanks to him.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Gullane (pronounced something like Gillon) is a small, very small, village outside Edinburgh near the Scots/English border. As we approached the village and began to wonder where was the Templar Lodge hotel, I thought I was having a vision such as the one that converted the Emperor Constantine to Christianity in the fourth century when a large red cross appeared in front of me! There were no conversions to Christianity here though as the very large, red maltese cross was painted on the side of the Templar Lodge hotel. We had arrived. Before speaking about the speakers I would actually like to extend my thanks to Joy and John Millar, and to Catherine Ormston who organised the symposium and worked very hard to ensure it ran smoothly. Liz and myself enjoyed it immensely and will definitely try to make the next one in May. Attendees had travelled from far and wide including Philadelphia, Canada and Holland. The Templar Lodge web site has pictures of the last event. I recognised most of the faces in the pictures so if you want a pictorial view of the event go there. As far as I can tell the pictures of the last event will also do for this one!! In the interests of balance the only grumblings I heard over the event were from what seemed like a freemasons day out group who complained of the slimmed down speaker list and also of the lack of content on freemasonry!! Speaking to freemasons is an interesting thing. They seem to be at pains to point out how open they really are but actually spend far more time saying how open they are than answering any questions you might have!!! ALAN BUTLER & STEVEN DEFOE First up as speakers were Alan Butler and Steven Defoe, who had come from Canada for the event. They gave a talk on 'Coincidences in British History' adapted from their treatise 'The Warriors and the Bankers'. Essentially, and this is a very superficial account, the talk took the view that developments in Western civilisation and the rise and fall of the Knights Templar could be traced back to key points in British history. The starting point was the Whitby Synod in the 7th century. Through a causal chain, Norman monks, led to the development of the northern abbeys which led to the development over time of the Cistercian order. Parallel to this, Catholicism began to take a hold through Europe from the 9th Century and felt threatened by the power and wealth of the Knights Templar mostly amassed since 1136. In that time the Knights Templar had amassed knowledge of navigation, international trade routes, genealogy and other new technologies. This led, amongst other things, for the Cistericians to prosper in the field of sheep-rearing and the Knights Templar became wealthy on the back of their development of international cheque-book banking! Roman Catholicism aligned with the French Monarchy in 1307 to suppress the Knights Templar, the remnants of which went to places like Scotland and Switzerland. Over more time the sheep-rearing industry in the north of England led to the development of related industries and contributed significantly to the Industrial Revolution. Not only that, experts in these industries were in Australia when it was a British penal colony (done a family tree, Greg? (Ed: Yup, I'm Irish...so don't write too quickly because I read slowly)) and helped develop it as an industry there and to trade with Britain. The Templars underground in Switzerland developed the banking system there. Of course it is still a pre-eminent banking centre, is secretive, is neutral, and its national flag is a white cross on a red background - the opposite of the Templar emblem while the International Red Cross is also headquartered there. These Templar developments in banking and the Industrial Revolution then sowed the seeds for the development of Capitalism and society as we pretty much know it. Not only that but Calvin fled to Geneva and from there spread Calvinism throughout Europe, a puritan protestant religious form that, up close, is actually very close to the belief system of the Cistercians and so was probably influenced by Templarism. Blimey, so from Norman monks in Yorkshire in the 7th Century we have the development of civilisation as we know it! To be fair it is a fascinating story well told. My opinion is that it is, in its present form, a wonderful conceit which with fleshing out, as I think they are doing, could be an excellent book. Steven, if you are reading this, send in details to Greg on how we can obtain copies of 'The Warriors and the Bankers' AHMED OSMAN Ahmed Osman was up next talking about his book, 'Out of Egypt'. Essentially this is an account of the exodus of the Israelites and the influence of Egypt on the development of Christianity. We were told of his belief on the identity of Moses and Joseph as derived from the Egyptian tradition. Cutting to the chase but still leaving you to do some work, Joseph was Minister of the King's Chariots, the king being Amenhotep III. Joseph's daughter, Ty, married Amenhotep III, giving birth to Tuthmosis who soon 'disappeared'. the second child, Ahkenaten, was hidden and then re-appeared at age 16 to be appointed co-regent with his father who by now you can work out. Osman also claims that Ahkenaten was Moses. Through his presentation Ahmed showed himself to be a man of immense knowledge and to have a scholarly approach to the subject matter. This is an interesting story and is definitely on the list of works to read. CHRISTOPHER KNIGHT & ROBERT LOMAS I just don't know how these guys do it. Not only do they both have 'regular' jobs (careers might be too strong) but they write a lot of interesting books. This talk went up a gear from the 'Sacred Secrets' Conference talk a month back. Robert Lomas was up first, with their work on megalithic sites in the UK that suggests not only is there significant evidence for mounds and sites being used for observational astronomy but that a number of sites were picked because of their observational views of astronomical anomalies. They indicate findings of sophisticated "megalithic housing estates" built before the pyramids, and the use of the megalithic yard which, they deduce, can only have been derived from observational astronomy. Again they highlighted the finding that the sites seem to observe Venus aswell, allowing a synchronisation of the solar and lunar calendars. Lomas told us much of HOW these people were observational astronomers, the WHY will be revealed in a fuller form in their forthcoming book, Uriel's machine. Blimey, I feel like an advertising agent. A copy of all books plugged would be gratefully appreciated!! Chris Knight then took over and gave us pointers on the Jewish roots or links to the Knights Templar (also touched on by Butler & Defoe) and hinted that the Romans were working to a masterplan when they sacked Jerusalem c.70AD and simultaneously tried to wipe out the Druids in Britain. We were also told that the layout of Rosslyn Chapel is a copy of Herod's Temple while the adornments on the outside represent Eziekel's vision of the New Jerusalem. He suggested that Herod's Temple may have been built on an old Mithraic site and that there may have been something under that. By extension the suggestion was there for something being UNDER Rosslyn! Finally we had the story of James Bruce and his search for the book of Enoch recounted again (see my previous review) but with the fascinating addition that the book, a pre-Christian work expunged from the final bible compilation contains a significant amount of astronomical information that was observed from England!! Fascinating stuff. Another interesting tit-bit that I, at least, did not know is that as Venus makes its way around the zodiac it makes the shape of a 5-pointed star and Mercury makes the shape of a six-pointed star. Anybody know what the others do? NIGEL TRANTER Nigel Tranter is a Scottish novelist and historian who appeared to be as old as Scotland itself but nevertheless entertained us with a light-hearted look at the history of some of the local Scottish Saints. Apparently St. Patrick, who rid Ireland of snakes, came from Glasgow so it was no wonder that anyone, let alone snakes, would make a run for it lest they get a Glasgow kiss! That was it for the first day. Exhausted, Liz and I went back to Glasgow while most of the others networked and drank jolly juice in the hotel bar until the early hours. IAN CAMPBELL Ian was the first speaker to come to the mystery of Rennes-le-Chateau. Inspired by the work of people such as Henry Lincoln he has looked at geometry in the landscape around Rennes and also at Poussin's painting Les Bergers d'Arcadie. Ian also has a rigorous scientific approach being, currently, the oldest astrophysics undergraduate in the world and is running a study of geometry in the Rennes area, the preliminary results of which are quite interesting although Liz and I discussed (well argued) about some of this stuff over whether the statistics actually mean anything. Ian showed us that you are certain to draw a circle on three distributed points, it is just a mathematical fact. Four and five point circles are much harder to find but they seem to be there in the landscape to a level significantly above chance. The computer models for testing this are still being run so we await the final results - in layman's terms hopefully. As to the Poussin, it was suggested that Athanasius Kircher taught him how to use perspective and geometry in his paintings. The figures in that particular painting are thought also to represent constellations, the woman being virgo, the shepherd (standing) is Bergere and the kneeling shepherd is Hercules and seems to represent that area of the sky. The constellation Bootes is also included and an extraordinary link was then made which I still do not understand. Nature (yes the science journal) in 1927 reported on a strange anomaly observed in work on atmospheric skimming, which is apparently the physics behind how radio hams and Australians talk to each other. A signal was finding strange echoes that could not be explained merely by reflection from the moon as the timings were wrong. More recently Duncan Lunan a scottish science journalist and author took the data and did graphic representations of the echoed signals which produced with one consistent error, constellations including Bootes. The consistency of the error may indicate a manipulation of the signal before its return. Possibly a response rather than an echo!?!?! I met Duncan while I was in Scotland but no longer have his contact details. If anyone knows Duncan can they ask him to explain further what he did, please. Ian Campbell is the co-author with David Wood of Geneset: Target Earth, or something like that!? CLIVE PRINCE & LYN PICKNETT If there was an election for being the anti-christ I think Lyn would be a front runner for their efforts in undermining Christianity! Clive and Lyn gave a talk on Jesus this time, painting him as an astute politician who put one over on John the Baptist, that he was Egyptian and an initiate of the Egyptian mystery schools, and that his vision of Christianity was an amalgam of Judaism and the Egyptian mystery schools. Jesus' message was Egyptian in its flavour. For example 'Come to me all ye who are burdened and I will give you rest' is inscribed in the Temple of Isis/Hathor in Egypt. The Lord's prayer is taken virtually word for word from an Egyptian spell and the scene in the garden after the crucifixion is an almost word-for-word account from an episode of an Isis story. If all that was not enough they suggest Jesus was a missionary for the Isis/Osiris religion, was a straightforward politi cian in his appeals to the dispossessed, that he may have been an Egyptian magician, that he was vindictive as evidenced by negative comments from him about John the Baptist, and that he may have been killed in revenge for the death of JTB. Questions were taken at the end of each session and as you might expect this brought the strongest reaction. One man said that he found their talk personally offensive but Lyn stepped up a gear from headmistress to full blown dominatrix to keep a control of the situation and refer people to the evidence. This however is always going to produce conflict as faith will not use reason and reason has to discount faith. I was told later that their next book, due out in June will "lose them a lot of friends". I have included some information on it at the end that Liz found on the net. Seems to me that they MAY be appealing to a different level with this one. HENRY LINCOLN The esteemed Henry Lincoln closed the Symposium although in some ways I found his talk disappointing. He did not concentrate so much on making a presentation as on making himself open to questioning. On the plus side though he made some very pertinent comments about how he does NOT know the answers to any of these mysteries and does not know if we ever will. He told us to believe nothing that he said, that he has ideas but not knowledge of the truth and encouraged us to research for ourselves. He did speak on some work in process, though, that looks very promising. Bornholm (sic) is a small Danish island with 15 churches on it and hundreds of standing stones and megalithic objects. Analysis is being done at the moment on the link between the buildings and geometry. The early indications are that all 15 churches are geometrically linked with astonishing accuracy. Further to that it extends to a church on another - even smaller - island and the geometry can also be linked to Rennes. Another argument for me and Liz was brewing here. The more that these subjects are addressed with sound scientific methodology the more the academic establishment will have to take its head out of the sand and listen, well maybe. The geometry of Bornholm also indicates use of the English mile so all roads, from this symposium at least, seem to point to England! Then, we had a very strange incident during the questioning. During Picknett and Prince a woman had made comments about their talk with comments like how Jesus was a Templar and that we are all 40 million years old and stuff. She was now again challenging Henry Lincoln Lincoln challenged her to prove her claims so she came forward and put the audience through a mass-hypnotic procedure so that we could access our ancient templar spirits and to communicate with Jesus, or something like that. Although inviting her to prove herself Henry Lincoln was absolute in not participating. I gave it a go but would not give it anymore credibility than a few relaxation techniques supported with suggestion although of course she said that I was wrong and that I was a mystic templar, and that I could not have seen what I had seen without being one. This despite the fact that she effectively told us what to see. One person in the audience appeared to be deep into the experience but later turned out to be an associate of the woman. If you want to look at what that was all about then there should be a link on the daily news page. There was also a talk by someone called Mark Oxbrow but we sneaked off for a look at Rosslyn Chapel and missed it so apologies to Mark. Rosslyn is the strangest chapel I have ever seen and you could spend a long time mulling it over. If you can go, do it. So that is that, looking forward to the next conference wherever that may be though it definitely wont be in Egypt in April! Anyone going to Transmute? I would like to know what Michael Cremo and Alan Alford have to say for themselves. Brian ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here is some more information about The Stargate Conspiracy, the forthcoming book from Picknett and Prince. Subject: The Stargate Conspiracy 'The Stargate Conspiracy' exposes the most insidious and dangerous plan of our times. Centred on the search for lost secrets of the pyramid builders, this extraordinary true story reveals the links between US scientific intelligence agencies, Mars and ancient Egypt. For almost 50 years, like Frankenstein's monster, this conspiracy has been put together from cultish - but astonishingly powerful - belief systems, culminating in the emergence of a new fundamentalism that is gathering strength by feeding on Millennium fever.Lynn Picknett and Clive Prince reveal the secret agenda that unites apparently independent authors and researchers - including top names with millions of readers worldwide - and which is targeted to all of us. The Stargate Conspiracy reveals that even the genuine mysteries of the gods themselves have been hijacked by powerful cabals - which include top industrialists, politicians, scientists and intelligence agencies such as MI5 and the CIA - in order to fulfill their secret agenda. At the heart of this conspiracy is the belief that the ancient Egyptian gods we - and are - extra terrestrial beings, that certain key people are in contact with them, and that they are about to return through the 'stargate' between our world and theirs. Are we prepared for the imminent return of the gods? And will we be expected unquestioningly to accept the conspirators as our spokesmen? Or is this an exercise in mass manipulation designed to make us support the conspirators? As they calculatedly whip up Millennium fever, triumphantly persuading us that they alone know how to talk to the gods, this book serves as a serious warning to mankind.ISBN 0 316 64861 2 =A318.99 320pp June release The X-Files have a lot to answer for. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Back to the Daily Grail ----- Aloha, He'Ping, Om, Shalom, Salaam.
