One's man religion is another mans conspiracy.
David Du Plessis is afrikaans, not british and came from a small free state
town which had a small (and marginalised) pentecostal community. The
dominant white church was the dutch reformed
church which diliked intensely the pentecostals. The pentecostals were non
conformists and in the from the 30's were much more willing to mix with
other races than the DRC.
The pentecostals were also less filled with hatred against the british
(after the english genocide in the boer war) than those in the DRC and so
might have been willing to mix with the english elite, but Du plessis
remained afrikaans through and through and still has family here in South
Africa.
Irational and emotional though charismatics may be, a conspiracy they are
not.
The charismatics rather than being racial supremicists were one of the early
non racist movements in which there was multi racial church services.
There is a danger, as in all mass movements and large organisations, that
people and politicians can use them for their own purposes. But to see
conspiracies under every bed is paranoia not reality.
