Just one question: why is it such a bad idea to have U.S. soldiers subject to
the same international code of conduct as we expect every other nation on
earth to follow? If U.S. soldiers on U.N. duty commit war crimes or crimes
against humanity, I would damn well hope they would be prosecuted. And it's
clear that American courts won't mete out real justice--just look at the My
Lai "incident" for an example: Calley was convicted, but Medina, his C.O. and
the man who ordered the massacre, didn't even have his wrist slapped. I don't
care if it's not an American court that prosecutes American soldiers for
crimes committed overseas; in fact, it's better if it *is* an international
court under U.N. authority. What's sauce for the goose surely ought to be
sauce for the gander, no matter what the gander thinks.

P.S.--just FYI, I am a Vietnam-Era U.S. Army veteran. I did not serve in
Southeast Asia, but many of my friends did, and I lost too many of those
friends in Nam.
