Perhaps if you listen to this song, and hear the music to Tannenbaum (The EVERGREEN) and consider that this song could well have been written by John Wilkes Booth.....it refers to the Ringold, and also the old line families of Howard and Carroll.....they fought in Civil War as well as Revolutionary War. Much is written in music which is not recorded in history. Nobody is ever going to convince me that Bill Clinton could ever be mistaken for a Southern Gentleman....rich or poor, a gentleman is a gentleman. Most of the old true blue Klansmen and Knights were Greek and Latin Scholars - men of honor. John Randall wrote the words of this song, Maryland - and this was and still is, the Mother State to many.
