Weird thought--ideology would have to move away from racism per se to
something else, maybe <oog> spore-ism? Consciousness-ism? And the timeline for
spore-wars would have to be so long, approaching infinity (esp. with what
appears to be an open-ended expanding universe), that you're forced to assume
the perspective of something like Stapledon's "Star Maker"... Add in Tipler's
hypothesis that at the end of time, Life will opt to recreate (IIRC, it's been
a while since I read his book) every being that has ever existed--even in
potentia, if I'm interpreting some of the implications of his notion
correctly... You could have the choice of creating your own personal universe,
or you could be uploaded to the Cosmic OS...would eternal existence as part of
the CPU of the ultimate AI count as Nirvana? And what happens when time really
*does*...end? Gee, we're getting horribly philosophical here today, aren't we?
