-Caveat Lector- Scotland, land of distinctive troublemakers, inventors and Hogmany - although the BBC has banned the word Hogmany [a celebrated gaelic word for New Year and its festival] because no-one in Britain understands its use any more ... ? The working class mass newspapers in Scotland are traditionally protestant, Unionist and Masonic - the Daily Record for instance is the biggest Scottish mass tabloid - all are full of Football Stories [aka Soccer] In Scotland, football is called 'The Beautiful Game' - a bit pretentious for such a small population, but in 1966 when England became world Champions they played Scotland later at Wembley - and on that famous day - Scottish football destroyed and humiliated the English reputation with displays of onfield cabaret, ball juggling and outrageous skill. The BBC video of that game actually succeeds in making England look UNLUCKY !!!! The working classes in Scotland traditionally congregate en-masse around Glasgow, where for sport and play petty religious rivalries and mass distractions are played out around the game of Football [aka Soccer to those on the other side of the pond]. The two major teams in Scottish Soccer are Rangers FC and Celtic FC, both Glasgow and have entertained many a generation of rebellious miners, shipbuilders and empire cannon fodder. Heavy industries and standing armies from Scotland have finally been stamped out by southern interests, leaving an impoverished and restless people trying to deal with new Scottish Parliament, 'Nationalist issues', and bad social services. The one familiar medium of communication in Scotland is the language of Soccer, the ills of a poorly performing Premier league get more livened when a Glasgow Rangers supporter joins the debate - for Glasgow Rangers FC has completely dominated and changed the domestic Scottish soccer scene in the last decade. Rangers supporters are slagged for 'bent referee' allegations 'mason in black' etc their ties to the Queen [Liz II] - but the Rangers FC support is massive in Scotland and enjoys perpetual success and media acclaim - so much so that the most popular mass tabloid in Scotland 'The Daily Record' has been dubbed 'The Daily Rangers'. So it is with much interest I note the national headlines today - and never mind Kosova - Rangers FC has just bought a Soccer striker from the USA. Now don't feel insulted please if I say that that is the equivalent of the most powerful NFL American Football side recruiting a Centre Back on which to build a Stateside conquering team for next season from my local pub. Its as if wee Jimmy at the bar - whose only exposure to Americana is a quick McNuggets and Fries - has just been signed as keyman for the Steelers in a [pardon] totally alien sports culture. The masses in Scotland will be assimilating american issues for months to come: profiles on the american soccer scene - american soccer holidays, T-Shirts, videos, american soccer league stories, tours, biographies etc etc yes Mass-speak will be all Uncle Sam - and tons of 'wee jimmies' at the pub are getting their intro to globalisation. Does this herald the americanisation of Scottish social infrastructure by acclimatising the Scottish masses to other bad Soccer players. We already have Pat Robinson aka Gods banker dealing a Scottish Hand. meantime my mate [*****] has been completely programmed by some Strange MK-Ultra lady from the States - goddam it is nuthin' sacred ? She took him to an elect 'Scottish' meeting where she tried to regress the entire hall, and after a few minutes he/[*****] was groaning and writhing - people thought that he was a paid accomplice - NO - this was for Real !!! Various nationalities are trying to tap into the Scottish psyche - its probably happening all over the world as our sensitivities are dumped in the Blender, Could this be a good thing ?? All over Glasgow, people will be shaking their heads when looking at the sports page and saying - is Nuthing Sacred ??? But does this herald the Death of American Football ??? for the word Football in common usage all over the world refers to the game of Soccer except in the States. If Football becomes the Global Game - it will be as Soccer, and one less Way, will be American. Old diverse Ways must die in Chaos, a new structure will arise from the ashes etc and perhaps as G.
