*** Pope hears Good Friday confessions. VATICAN CITY (AP) Pope John Paul II
heard confessions from nine people in St. Peter's Basilica on Good Friday,
hours before a solemn procession at Rome's Colosseum. For a fifth year, the
pope walked for only a short stretch with others carrying a wooden cross in
an evening procession that symbolizes Christ's suffering before his cruci-
fixion. John Paul reduced his participation following hip surgery. See

And: High desert holy place, see
http://www.infobeat.com/stories/cgi/story.cgi?id=2559027544-030
: What would you confess to a Pope? What would you confess to a Popess? Will
they turn you in? Into what? Would you carry a papal cross? Would you rather
do that in Rome or a high-desert holy place? Have you ever been to a high-
desert holy place? Did you get high there? Did aliens speak to you? When?

*** Jerusalem pilgrims mark Good Friday. JERUSALEM (AP) Thousands of pil-
grims, some clutching large wooden crosses, walked through the rosemary-
scented alleys of Jerusalem's Old City in a Good Friday procession, retra-
cing Jesus' steps to crucifixion. Franciscan monks led pilgrims from around
the world along the Via Dolorosa, or Way of Sorrows, starting at the tradi-
tional site of Jesus' trial and ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher,
believed to be built over the place of his crucifixion and burial. Worship-
pers sang hymns and read prayers in Arabic, Italian, English and other lan-
guages. See http://www.infobeat.com/stories/cgi/story.cgi?id=2559031286-9e8
: Is pilgrimage necessary/useful for salvation, or are a good justification
for tourism, or good exercise, or suggested by alien mind-control, or what?
Would you travel to the alleged site of the alleged life/torture/death of an
alleged nonhuman spawn? Would you spend money there? Would it be worth it?

*** Filipinos crucified in ritual. SAN PEDRO CUTUD, Philippines (AP) - At
least 10 Filipinos were nailed to crosses in a village north of Manila and
scores of others flogged themselves as they walked shirtless and barefoot in
annual Good Friday rites of penitence. Hundreds of tourists and journalists
flocked to San Pedro Cutud to watch the Easter week celebrations in Asia's
only predominantly Roman Catholic nation. Stainless steel nails soaked in
alcohol are used in the re-enactments of Jesus' crucifixion. In the more
than 40 years that the ritual has been held in the village, no serious
injuries have been reported. Filipinos observe Lent with fasting and acts
of repentance. See www.infobeat.com/stories/cgi/story.cgi?id=2559030752-a55
: Do you want to re-enact torture? Do you want to be tortured or torturer?
Would a real reenactment of Easter have guys dressed as Romans killing Jews?
Who benefits from these reenactments? Is this your favorite form of theatre?
Who else should be tortured/killed? Does your belief system promote torture?

> 'RAVENOUS' STARS SEE CALIFORNIA IN CANNIBAL FILM. The makers of "Ravenous"
are betting a black comedy about cannibalism won't leave a bad taste in aud-
iences' mouths. The movie, set in the 1850s, stars Robert Carlyle as a psy-
chopathic mountain man with a taste for rare meat and Indian legend. Carlyle
says he saw in the movie a link to today's California lifestyle: Just as his
character is "is struggling for eternal life, for health and physical prow-
ess and virility and vitality," so are many in California today. Well done -
see http://cnn.com/SHOWBIZ/Movies/9903/29/review.ravenous/index.html
: Does your belief system promote physical or symbolic cannibalism? Do you
like long-pig tartare? With wine? Should such entres be added to the usual
California cuisine? Would you visit California for such specialties? When?
Would a joint stimulate your appetite? What's your favorite sacrament? Why?
