It is sad that the Israeli state is willing to sacrifice its own citizens in order to maintain a brutal and illegal occupation of another people. It also was tragic that so many Germans died in WWII. Too many British soldiers paid the ultimate price for the Queen's Empire. Too many Russians died for Stalin. Too many South Africans died for Apartheid. Sadly many Americans and Iraqis will die in Iraq.
