Lari Army Builds Balkan Village In Rockies (New York Times, April 15, 1999) The Army is converting 150 square miles of Ft. Carson in the Rocky Mountains into a Balkan stage set, complete with four villages and a copy of the U.S. military base in Tuzla, Bosnia. In 10 weeks, the site will be ready to train soldiers of the Third Armored Cavalry Regiment, who ship out for Bosnia next February. "This is strictly for Bosnia, nowhere else," said a base spokesman.
