Kirk Tofte Feb 13, 2003 15:54:46 Thank you for your article regarding "anti-war
conservatives." I agree with one of the individuals you quoted that this movement is
growing and will continue to grow exponentially. The Internet in general and the
anti-war websites you cite, in particular, are drawing more people every day. We are
all looking for a debate on these issues that is completely lacking in Washington and
in the mainstream media.

Fred Rounds Feb 13, 2003 15:46:37 If the congress is beginning to rally against the
war, then I would suggest moving on H.Con.Res 2, which repeals the President's Iraq
war authority. However, I don't see Congress rallying fast enough to stop the
President on this fanatic mission. Afghanistan is a good example of what regime change
can do. Have you seen the mess there lately? Let's get this President under control
before he blows the whole world up.

Barry Dover Feb 13, 2003 15:39:33 Great Article! I'm a conservative and I'll be out on
the 15th. I'll be the one (probably not the only one) wearing the American flag
button. Down with the New Rome! America First! Free America!

CalvinPitzrick Feb 13, 2003 15:27:54 I`m a registered Conservative in New York and do
not want war with Iraq right now! The economy is bad right now and we shouldn`t take a
chance to invite more terrorism into the US. I`ve felt this way right from the
beginning of the war talk with Iraq. It seems to me that the Bush regime has gone
bananas. Even Iraq`s neighbors don`t want us intervening, as well as Europe. It seems
to me that Bush and England's Tony Blair are gunning for one world government. I am
against one world government!

Robert Hayes Feb 13, 2003 15:24:36 To hear the many talk show programs that cover our
area(Memphis, TN) you would think that this issue is a strictly polarized thing. All
Dems and Liberals (whatever they are) oppose the war and all Repubs and conservatives
back Bush. This as you know is not the case, but that's how it is being framed by much
of the mass media.

corncobpipe Feb 13, 2003 14:53:19 I am very pleased that some prominent conservatives
have come out against the war. It provides an outlet to ordinary patriotic Americans
who do not want to appear liberal or even socialist. I consider myself leaning toward
Democrat but I will stand with the true conservatives in the protest rallies. To
paraphrase JFK, \"I am an American first, and a Democrat second\".

wu/celia Feb 13, 2003 14:47:43 The neocons brought this rogue administration together
into a powerful alliance. This administration sees a chance to acquire world
domination by taking control of the Iraqi oil, "as easy as taking a nursing home,"
with our huge military power. They will then control all of the Middle East, and be
able to face down China, the second-biggest power in the world. What has made the mad
scenario possible is the giant news media in this country, which has been the
administration's cheerleading enabler. Matthew Moriarty Feb 13, 2003 14:41:53 If there
is war, there won't be an election in 2004. Patriot II seals the police state for Bush
and kills the constitution. People like Buchanan are going to have to start thinking
IMPEACHMENT now and stop whining. The war is not only "unjust," but, more importantly,
violates our Constitution. Only Congress can declare war!

William Kuhn Feb 13, 2003 08:14:05 A Libertarian, I found Rene Ciria-Cruz's remarks in
"Anti-War Conservatives Bash Hawks on Iraq" generally on the mark. I have demonstrated
against the upcoming attack on Iraq outside the gates of the U.S. Central Command in
Tampa, FL. Most conservatives and libertarians tend to view socialism in terms of a
government mandated program of some kind. I have yet to see a cogent assessment of the
merits or de-merits of voluntary socialism as proposed by the anarchists. As Justin
Raimondo has said, we can reject the ideas of the 'Left', but not their backbone. We
should not accept a situation where we are always just reacting to war. We cannot
forever lurch from crises to crises - each time losing more of our Liberty and our
Honor. WE ARE FREE MEN AND WOMEN. ITS TIME WE ACTED LIKE IT.

Hitler would not invade Switzerland because the Swiss citizens are armed.
We don't need a Patriot Act and we don't need a Homeland Security that all the
government worshippers want. The so-called phoney big government conservatives want
Americans to be dependent on government for our security.
If the government really is interested in protecting America, take the money from
Homeland Security and buy every American firearms and ammo.
It would be a heck of a lot cheaper.
It would make America very secure.
We wouldn't have an abusive gestapo.
It's how we gained Independence.
And it's the AMERICAN WAY.

Quote:
"We want big government, a big police state, massive spending, wide open borders,
NAFTA, oh yeah, and by the way, we are conservatives....yeah, really we are, yeah,
really, conservatives. No, I mean it, really, we are conservatives."
