NOTHING destroys environmentally sensitive areas nor aggravates world wide environmental degradation as much as American population growth and density. The average American consumes the energy, manufactured products and produces polluting gasses at the rate equivalent to 10 non Americans. Thus any increase in American population has an expondential effect on worldwide pollution. The population of the US has essentially doubled since 1945. This increase is almost entirely the result of massive illegal and legal 'chain' immigration since the 1960's.
