-Caveat Lector- While Sutherland and I would probably not agree on what is Greenwich Mean Time, (he making it up and my going to the website), there is corroboration for this information in the book Circle of Fear by Hussein Samaida. Samaida is the son of one of Saddam Hussein's principal lieutenants and was a member of the Iraqi elite. The book came out in 1991. While the book is full of inside information on the political and military doings of the elite there, there is also information on the culture of the elite. He left and took asylum in Canada.
"New Year's Day 1987 I was invited to a birthday party for one of the Mukhabaret men. The party was to be held in a special neighborhood on Umm al-Khanazir, an island in the Tigris, located where the river bends at the southern edge of Baghdad. On the surface it looks like any well-to-do neighborhood: large homes with tended gardens, guarded by armed sentries. "The whole island is owned by the Ba'thist Party, and the houses are used for the entertainment of the elite. I learned that to have a party in Umm-al-Khanazir, one needed special permission from the office of the Ba'thist Party headquarters, Internal Affairs--a horribly apt title as it turned out. "Inside each house is comfortable, but in order to leave room for dancing, the L-shaped salons are sparcely furnished. Our birthday party was an ordinary-enough affair, with twenty or so agents and as many girls. I played deejay while everyone ate, drank and danced to western pop music. "That night, I learned more about this neighborhood and what went on behind its closed doors. The person who told me was an officer in one of the Amn security departments. After a few drinks, he entertained the group --"sickened" might be more accurate--with stories about other parties that went on in these houses, affairs attended by party higher-ups. Like everything else in this Iraqi-Arabian nightmare, sex is deformed, perverted and full of terror. The story I heard wasn't a tale filled with romantic clichs about dark-eyed desert sheikhs and pampered harem beauties who drift about in gauzy silk, eating figs until summoned to the royal cushions. Many of Saddam's men have quite different tastes. "A party bigwig reserves the houses, has the furniture moved out of the salon leaving only the cushions. When the host arrives, he brings with him his own privately sponsored musical group. The party bigwigs all have groups who cater to their individual taste in entertainment. There is usually a singer, backed up by a small band, who has a repertoire of old Bedouin and modern Iraqi members. Such musical groups are bought and paid for, and preferably its members are all blind. "The Ba'th has been a bonanza for blind musicians. They're preferred because the feature attraction at these soirees is erotic dancing by young Egyptian boys. They bend and writhe, stripping off scanty costumes down to their smooth young skin. As the nude dancing boys excite them, the men begin to beat the boys with special batons and whips brought for the occasion. Most of the boys are male prostitutes of sixteen or seventeen. Some never grow older. "The climax of the evening is the rape of the boys by these Iraqi rulers who profess such an abhorrence of homosexuals. Grunting and yelling obscenities, they brutalize their "lovers," competing to see who can make his victim scream the loudest in agony. Many of the boys end up in hospital, presumably to be mended for further use. Others, it is said, die of their injuries. "I know that prisoners in Iraqi jails are often subjected to the same sadism, a hideous form of hypocrisy and cruelty that says more about these men than any other single fact. Worse, there is nothing new about this intimate horror. It's not unique to Iraq or to the Ba'th Party. Others have written of the same tortures in Iranian, Turkish and Greek prisons. Sexual sadism seems to be a common denominator of male tyrants. I won't even pretend to understand what it means, but it's dark and evil. "Iraqi sadists prefer to act out their perversions on Egyptians because they can never be sure if an Iraqi victim might turn out to be an agent for one of the other security branches, or might have powerful family relatives. Moreover, Iraqis are renowned for pride and arrogance. The Egyptians are considered inferior, and they are submissive and available in large numbers. Iraqis like to say the Egyptians are easy to jump over, like a low wall. "Egyptians have always been present in Iraq, where they are employed in menial jobs that Iraqis refused to do. Many more Egyptians arrived after the war with Iran began to deplete the work force. They soon filled posts left vacant by the military draft. After a few years of conflict, it was hard to find an Iraqi in any of the businesses along Rashid Street. Egyptians literally became the lifeblood of the community. Those who weren't drug addicts were forced to donate blood to the military medical banks. The medics even relived them of their kidneys and other parts for transplants. The Egyptians became warehouses for human spare parts...." There is a clich that goes "boys and their toys." How Iraqi "boys" use their toys made war inevitable. -----Original Message----- From: Conspiracy Theory Research List [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Steve Wingate Sent: Tuesday, March 25, 2003 12:39 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [CTRL] Saddam's son beats 12-year-olds who say no to sex: defectors -Caveat Lector- Wow, that is a great reason to invade a country, an even better reason than for the oil!
