Subject: Press Release: Iraq

                                                                                                                                                        03/04/03

On the 20th of March 2003, the gigantic military arsenal of the United Stated of America, along with its British ally to devastate the state of Iraq under the claim of releasing the Iraqi people from the authoritarianism of their Dictatorial regime as well as revealing the WMD hidden.

Against the international will and outside the banner of the UN and all the humanitarian treaties, the objectives of the military campaign on Iraq shifted to be safeguarding the Iraqi Oil and resuming the Oil for Food program. Then, after a week of the campaign, the UN issued its resolution calling for the resumption of the program. This resolution is in fact the sixty-fourth related to Iraq since 660/1990 to 1441/2002.

All these resolutions give thee Iraqi people one third of the returns of the sales of their oil for food…while the rest goes to reparations costs for those states that suffered from the aggression on Kuwait (such as Israel), as well as the salaries of the UN experts responsible for the implementation of these resolutions. In addition, the remaining two-thirds cover the process of rebuilding the so-called Democratic Iraq of the future.

So, where is the notion of “War of Liberation of Iraq”? And where is the so-called Democracy? Is it the Democracy of Fear and Terror that the Iraqi people are feeding upon 24/7 ? Do they fight Iraq to get its so-called WMD? Or are they trying their new WMD in it?

Where is the UN that put Iraq under twelve years of Sanctions, and then escaped the arena with the first hint of American military seriousness? Where is the right to self-determination? Where is the Universal Declaration for Human Rights? Where are the Geneva Conventions? Where are the super powers inside the Security Council? Where are the Arab regimes? Where is the international community as a whole?

The Arab Program for Human Rights Activists expresses its deepest concerns for what has been happening in Iraq, and announces its denunciation against all what is seen on the news for its conflict with all the international treaties. As well, it calls upon the international community, both on the formal and informal levels to take the appropriate measures against this bloody assault now and not tomorrow.

The local, regional and international democratic institutions are deeply urged to put a Black Flag on their premises in condemnation to the blood baths taking place in Iraq by the American and British hands.
