(Hil'y was nestled all snug in her bed while visions of separation danced in her head.) Then over Baghdad there 'rose such a clatter, That even King Rat wondered, "What is the matter?" He ran to his window and threw up the sash, knocked over an urn and spilled hidden cash. The sound of the bombers way over his head meant that he couldn't just go back to bed. Laying his finger aside of his nose he decided to call someone that he knows. He picked up the phone and dialed lively and quick. But it wasn't to call old jolly Saint Nick. "Let me stay leader of all of Iraq and I'll keep all the congressmen off of your back." Billy smiled and he winked as he put down the phone and told the Joint Chief's "You all can go home." (This story should have been closer to the front of the paper, along with the comments about impeachment.) "INDICTED DEMOCRATIC DONOR MAY HAVE KEFT U.S." reads the title of the article. An acceptable response might be "What, another?" This comes at a time when impeachment hearings are in the offing and one of the matters to be discussed is the China Connection which is well described in the new book THE YEAR OF THE RAT, by Timperlake and Triplett (Regnery, 1998). The appearance of this news story was particularly timely for me, since I had just finished reading the book which covers the history of the 1996 election funding scandals and following events up through the spring of 1998. The article (shortened) reads, "TAMPA, Nov. 25 - A business executive charged with making illegal contributions to the campaigns of President Clinton and other Democrats apparently has fled the country, the Justice department said. Mark Jimenez is considered a fugitive......not much hope that he is coming back... Jimenez, 52, a Philippine national, was indicted in September on 17 counts alleging he made nearly $40,000 in illegal contributions to Democratic campaigns in 1994 and 1996. In 1996 he was Florida's largest donor to the National Democratic Party. The Miami executive and others in his company ...(used a method known as)...conduit contributions or money laundering .. (to) evade contribution limits..... Jimenez came to the United States in the early 1980's. He built Future Tech, a distributer of computer components and peripherals in Miami, from a small company to one that does more than $250 million a year in business." How does this fit in with the "Year of the rat?" Like a glove. According to the Chinese calendar, 1996 was "the year of the rat." It was during this year (and the preceding 2 years) that roughly 2.8 million bucks were received by the Democratic National Committee which has had to be returned. Why? Page 98 of YEAR OF THE RAT will give you an idea. Ng (pronounced "ong" as in "pong") Lapseng has connections to criminals in Macau, according to the authors. Although Ng has not been mentioned much in the press, two others mentioned below, Charlie Trie and John Huang, have "made press." Trie, financially backed by Ng and well acquainted with Clinton, is characterized in the book (Chapter 9) as a "Chinese gangster, Little Rock chef, DNC fund-raiser and current criminal defendant." He is claimed to be a member of a Chinese "Triad" gang. John Huang, a friend of the Riady's/Lippo group in Indonesia, was a "good buddy" of the president (Friend of Bill) who actually got a job at the Commerce Dept and was given a Top Secret clearance and several briefings by the CIA on Asian policy. Apparently he kept the Riady's informed of what he was learning.. and thereby, the Chinese government. (There is a picture in the book of Pres. Bill with his arm around Huang.) Note: one gets from this book the impression that a major part of Chinese government (mainland) is well connected with "real criminals" who do/sell drugs, control prostitution, murder, robbery, etc. All very revolting.... and what is described below is "in Bill Clinton's America" ........................ (quoting from the book) page 98 Ng's bags of cash are interesting: June 20, 1994: Ng enters the US with $175,000 in cash; June 22, 1994 Ng and (Charlie) Trie have lunch with Mark Middleton (Dem. fund raiser) in the White House. (That evening they were honored guests at the head table with President Clinton during the Presidential Gala fund raiser at the Washington Hilton) July 31, 1994: Ng enters the US with $42,000 in cash; he visits Middleton at the White House on August 1 and 2 October 19, 1994: Ng enters the US with $25,000 in cash; he meets Middleton at the White house on Oct. 20, 1994, the same day $99,970 arrives in Trie's account from abroad. February 15, 1995: Ng enters the US with $12,000 in cash; he meets Middleton at the White House twice on the next day and finally sees Clinton in the White House residence. February, 18, 1996: Ng enters the US with $19,000 in cash; the next day he attends John Huang's Presidential Asian Dinner and on Feb. 20 he visits the White House to meet with DNC official Susan Levine. August 17, 1996: Ng enters the US with $70,000 in cash; the next day he attents President Clunton's Gala Birthday Bash, at which Trie gives a check for $118,000. Ng's grand total is $333,000 in suspect cash, on top of $1,000,000 plus to Charlie Trie in wire transfers. It may be that the Fortuna coffee shop (and hotel) earns a profit, but at least some of Ng's money that poured into the Clinton-Gore reelection effort could have come from the degredation of women. We do not consider it coincidental that Ng would visit fund raiser Middleton within forty-eight house of arriving in the United States with bags of cash. Or that this would happen repeatedly. Everyone connected to this business, even Trie's Arkansas accountant, has either fled the country or taken the Fifth Amendment.... .................(end copy from book) There is not space to cover all the questionable and sometimes outright nefarious acts described in the book. Don't think that Ng is the whole story.... far from it. It was just convenient to quote the book verbatim on that one page summary of Ng Lapseng's activities. In the book you will also find John Huang, Charlie Trie, Stanley Ho (handed Clinton, at the White House, a check for $250,000 for a charity), Ted Sioeng's daughter (Sioeng is a buddy of Ng) who managed to get two officials of Ang-Du International (company owned by Lapseng and Ho) invited to a Clinton fund raiser (May 1996). According to the Wall Street Journal (quoted in the book), Ang-Du "procures Thai women for Macau brothels." Quoting from the book again (page 100-101) ............. Sioeng and his family fit the same dreary pattern we have seen repeated over and over: They are DNC donors to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of illegally laundered foreign money; they have had close personal contact with Clinton and Gore; they have been identified by the CIA as agents of Chinese intelligence; and they have fled the country or taken the Fifth Amendment - the Riady's, John Huang, Maria Hsia (long time fund raiser for Gore), Clinton crony Charlie Trie, Ng Lapseng, Pauline Kanchanalak (Thai business womean and major Dem fund raser, indicted on 24 counts of election law violations), Lt. Col. Liu Chaoying (made illegal contributions through Johnny Chung, met Clinton twice in California at fund raisers, is daughter of the People's Liberation Army former top officer, graduate of the PLA's high tech spy academy, a hard-line communist with an eye for western clothes, involved with the controversy of Chinese launches of US missiles), and on and on and on. ..................(end quote) March 1977: DNC returns $37,500 from Chun Hua Yeh, non-US citizen who sat with Clinton during a fund raiser in the summer of 1996. He was the chairman of a small bank in southern CA suspected of being controlled by foreign interests and in partnership with the Commission on Science Technology and Industry for National Defense.... of China!! And, speaking of the military and industry, recall the brouhaha over the launching of US satellites by Chinese missiles and how Loral and Hughes helped the Chinese improve the reliabiliy of the satellite launching missile.... which is virtually identical to the DF-5 ballistic (nuke) missile. Loral and Hughes HAD to help China improve the reliability because (a) Chinese launches were relatively cheap but (b) they were so unreliable as to be uninsurable. Loral and Hughes couldn't afford to take chances with multi-hundreds of millions of dollar satellites, ergo, fix the Chinese missile control system. Thanks to them the Chinese now have a VERY reliable missile. This failure and subsequent fix happened in Feb-Apr 1996 and was done without prior Def. Dept. approval. When the US government learned about this in May, 1996, the CIA concluded tha "United States Security has been harmed." An investigation began. In Feb. 1998, with the Justice dept. about to charge Loral, Clinton "approved a waiver allowing the free transfer to China of the same technology that Loral and Hughes were accused of transferring under the table," and this effectively stopped Justice, even though "National Security Advisor Sandy Berger knew Loral's conduct was 'criminal, likely to be indicted, knowing and unlawful.'" Berger did not recommend continuing with the invesigation of Loral. As you have read in newspaper stories, the "encoded portion of the Loral satellite was missing when the Chinese returned the debris from the Feb. 1996 explosion." Chinese soldiers picked through the rubbish for 5 hours before US officials were allowed on the scene. The question here is, wy did Clinton change horses in the middle of the stream.... why did he suddenly make legal the formely illegal technology transfer? Could there have been any connection with contributions from Loral to the DNC? In 1991-1992 Bernie Schwartz personally donated $12,500 to Clinton- Gore...peanuts. In 1996 he gave $586,000 (now you're talkin'!). "As of May, 1998 Schwartz had contributed $421,000 to the Democrat's 1997-1998 campagn cycle. That makes him the number one contributer to the Democrats in both the 1995-1996 and 1997-1998 campaign cycles." But why care about how much a rich American gives to the DNC? Look at the history: summer, 1994 - $100,000 to DNC and 2 months later he was on Ron Brown's trade delegation to China where Brown arranged meetings between Chinese officials and Schwartz; 1995-1996 - Schwartz needed antitrust approval from the Justice dept. to sell parts of Loral to Lockheed and he also needed administration support for his China missile launch plans. At the same time, and Clinton-Gore needed money for campaigning. Schwartz wanted "the granting-authority for the export licenses he needed transferred to the user-friendly Commerce Department (Ron Brown). He also wanted regular waivers of the Tiananmen sanctions on satellites and, to avoid proliferation sanctions, he had to pursuade the Clinton administration to ignore Chinese missile sales to Iran. Everyone got what he wanted." Clinton- Gore got half a million bucks and Schwartz got his antitrust exemption and, on March 12, Clinton "overturned an October 1995 decision by Secretary of State Warren Christopher and transferred authority for satellite export licenses to the Commerce Department." Not only that, but also "Tiananmen waivers became routine for Clinton." This "peep into the book" is already too long. Suffice it to say that all the bits and pieces of the China Connection and other shenanigans....IT'S NOT THE MONICA, STUPID.... are put together so that the average American, with an attention span approximating the duration of a Sesame Street "commercial" ("brought to you by the letter C") can see the whole sorry story in one place. My own feeling about this is that being buddy-buddy with China would probably be OK if it weren't for the fact that people with simple criminal intent have replaced honest or moral leaders and to a dismaying extent truth comes out of the muzzle of a gun in China... and in the USA, where Chinese gun-runners were discovered as they were trying to smuggle fully automatic machince guns to US drug gangs in 1996. And, of course, thanks to the Clinton administration the Chinese have a Navy Base on the US Mainland (Long Beach). It appears to me that there is a whole "culture" of "anything goes" liberalism and low morality or a loss of feeling for what is "right" combined with "no one is to blame" that the Clintons brought with them from Arkansas. Right from the beginning the administration that was going to set the standard for ethics began by making mistakes. Anyone who thinks the Clintons set ethical standards should ask himself/herself the following question: how many of my friends have been fired from their jobs, have been forced to resign under pressure or have been indicted for money laundering, corruption, lying under oath, etc. For that matter, ask yourself how many people do I know personally who have been jailed for any reason whatsover?
