Bills pour in at the rate of $25 million a month, depleting whatever assets the bankrupt energy giant can use to pay off creditors and lawsuits, according to a report in yesterday's Washington Post. "There is a lot of money sloshing around, and the participants are taking it away from the people who really deserve it," Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott told the paper. More than 20,000 claims have been made and 11,000 legal filings generated since the Houston leviathan went belly-up in December 2001. Through May, claims from lawyers, accountants and advisers totaled $496 million. Stephen Cooper, the bankruptcy lawyer now running Enron, makes $1.3 million - but he is also allowed to hire on Enron's dime up to 30 cronies from his law firm, each at an annual salary of $864,000.
