Interesting, but Not Quite Accurate 7/27/03 Paul Vitello  "The documentary film "Capturing the Friedmans" won the Best American documentary prize at the Sundance Film Festival this year, which might imply that it is a true story." "There are too many omissions, however, for it to fairly answer any of the particular or general questions it purports to ask. It leaves out, for instance, any mention of a co-defendant of Arnold and Jesse Friedman - an 18-year-old friend of Jesse's named Ross Goldstein, who pleaded guilty to participating in the sex abuse of the boys and received a sentence of 2 to 6 years in exchange for his cooperation. In a recent interview with Newsday's Vctor Manuel Ramos, the filmmaker Jarecki said he did not mention Goldstein in the film because Goldstein asked not to be mentioned. Excuse me? How does one make a film raising questions about the guilt of two defendants in a criminal case - and just leave out mention of the existence of a third? Goldstein, the third defendant, said he was there in the Friedmans' computer classes, said he saw the sex crimes against the children, was able to identify the victims from photographs shown to him by police and was willing to testify against the Friedmans in court." http://www.newsday.com/mynews/ny-livit273389114jul27,0,6529280.column

On the Need for New Criteria of Diagnosis of Psychosis in the Light of Mind Invasive Technology Carole Smith "people who are the victims of the most appalling abuse by scientific-military experiments, and a totally uncomprehending society is indifferent to their evidence. For the development of a new class of weaponry now has the capability of entering the brain and mind and body of another person by technological means. Harnessing neuroscience to military capability, this technology is the result of decades of research and experimentation, most particularly in the Soviet Union and the United States." http://www.btinternet.com/~psycho_social/Vol3/JPSS-CS2.html
