Long ago, and they keep finding more. The fossil record, though still not complete, is more than complete enough to demonstrate the validity of the theory to any who examine the evidence objectively. This, of course, leaves out all those too befuddled by primitive, superstitious delusions.
More complete is the record of mitochondrial DNA.
