Research separates depression in trauma victims from others By Karen Patterson The Dallas Morning News "Dallas - Chronically depressed adults who suffered trauma as children may warrant different treatment strategies from other depression patients, a new study shows. The research, released online Monday by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, examined the effects of an antidepressant, psychotherapy or both among two groups of outpatients with chronic, moderately severe depression. One group had suffered childhood neglect, physical or sexual abuse, or the loss of a parent; the other hadn't. Among all patients the drug, nefazodone, appeared to work about as effectively as did a form of psychotherapy targeting chronic depression. ��� NEW YORK -- Pfc. Jessica Lynch said Tuesday she is disturbed that the military seemed to overdramatize her rescue by U.S. troops and spread false stories that she went down shooting in an Iraqi ambush.
��� "That wasn't me. I wasn't about to take credit for something I didn't do," she told The Associated Press. "I'm not that person."
��� The 20-year-old former Army supply clerk described her ordeal in a Veterans Day interview seven months after the rescue made her a national hero.
��� Reports circulated by the U.S. military early in the war said Lynch waged a fierce gunbattle with Iraqi fighters who ambushed her 507th Maintenance Company on March 23 at Nasiriyah. She has since said her rifle jammed, and she did not get off a shot.
��� And Lynch's new book points out that, despite the "tension and drama" of the military videotape showing gun-toting U.S. soldiers rushing into an Iraqi hospital to rescue her, the hospital staff never resisted, and even offered the troops a key.

According to the Illinois Leader, a National Guard soldier based in Rockford, IL, who blasted President Bush on a local radio talk show Friday, may face court martial for her public comments. The husband of Sergeant Jessica Macek, who returned from leave back to Kuwait on Saturday, told WNTA Talk host Chris Bowman that his wife says she may face a court martial for comments she made Friday. IllinoisLeader.com Rockford correspondent David Hale heard Macek's comments on the Friday morning show. According to Hale, Macek said the President lied about the reasons America military was in Iraq. But on the air Monday, Bowman argued that Hale's reporting was inaccurate and biased, saying the story was published on an "ultra-conservative" news source.

A Fort Bend County woman files a lawsuit on former Governor and current sitting President George W. Bush. Margie Schoedinger of Missouri City, Texas has filed a lawsuit against George W. Bush in Fort Bend County Court. In her suit she is alleging "race based harassment and individual sex crimes committed against her and her husband." The suit lists numerous offenses and asks for actual damages, punitive damages and judgments against George W. Bush. In her suit, among the many allegations, she has stated, "On or about, October 26, 2000, an attempt was made to abduct Plaintiff (Schoedinger) by three unknown assailants. Because of the actions of these assailants, Sugar Land police officers were dispatched to the scene. In the end, no report was taken. The assailants were treated respectfully and allowed to go free while Plaintiff (Schoedinger) was repeatedly and aggressively questioned. After filing a lawsuit, the Plaintiff's family and past contacts were questioned and harassed." As a result, Plaintiff dismissed Plaintiff's lawsuit. Irrespective of Plaintiff dismissing the lawsuit, the harassment continued."
