But something even more unusual as to the reporting of this event took place. The USGS official statement regarding this event is as follows. Location - Error estimate not available, held by USGS Quality - NEIC to another agency's solution Parameters - not available Source - Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology, Butte, USA It appears the USGS does not want to touch this one. So I made contact with the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology. I spoke to Mike Stickney who is the director http://www.mbmg.mtech.edu/mbmg_default.htm of this facility. Mr. Stickney reports that to the best of his knowledge, "this was a natural tectonic shift." I asked if it could have been a mine blast or mine collapse. His response: "There is no record of any mines in this location." I made a comment as to his answer saying "at least that you are aware of." Mr. Stickney replied "yes, I should say that the ones we are at least aware of." Hmmm, makes one wonder just what is it we are not "aware of." But before we all go running off with theories of overt conspiracies, which at this point I am not opposed to, Mr. Stickney did make a strong point which I had overlooked. The depth of this seismic event was 17.6 kilometers or 10.6 miles. Now I am not quite sure what limits there are to underground tunneling, but I would speculate this is rather deep.
