When the number of US soldiers killed in Iraq hit 800, suddenly, the method for "death count bookkeeping" at the Pentagon - and reported by the media - changed. Now, mysteriously we see that the death count just reached "600." How can this be? Because now, to count as a "death," you have to die on the spot "in combat." That means that you don't count as officially "killed" if you step on a land mine and die a week later in agony in Germany. Pretty neat trick, eh? And just in time for Bush's "Grand Tour" of Europe to try to induce allies to send more warm bodies to Iraq. How stupid do he and his pals in the media think the public is?
