If true, members of this list would be deprived of a major topic of
discussion. Thus, even IF true, this theory is useless, ie it cuts
off possible areas of exploration and debate. Best to ignore it.

To establish the validity of this hypothesis, proponents must establish

Everyone look at your maps. Kosova doesn't have a seacoast; Albania,
Montenegro, Croatia and Greece occupy the east shore of the Adriatic.
Controlling one of those states COULD cut off oil... to Venice and
Trieste - the rest of Europe would be unaffected. Please note Kosova's
location in relation to the rest of Eurasia, down at a far nub. How
much leverage is gained by controlling that bit of real estate? If
Kosova is vital, why didn't Socialist Yugoslavia control Eurasia? Is
Kosova vital to ANYONE for geostrategic reasons? To whom? Note that
Caspian oil routes do/can transit Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, Iran,
Turkey - aren't these countries much more crucial than Kosova? Would
you rather control Kosova or the Bosphorus?

If true, we can expect to see increasing NATO/US pressure on Russia
re: Chechnya; increased aid to Georgia and Azerbaijan vs. Russia and
Armenia; increased alignment of Central Asia [Kazakhstan, Tajikistan,
Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan] with NATO; increased NATO/US
influence in Mongolia and Afghanistan; and the rapid inclusion into
NATO of Bulgaria, Romania, Moldava, Baltic republics [Estonia, Latvia,
Lithuania, Finland, Sweden], possibly Ukraine and Slovakia, and even
dissident republics within the current Russia [those of the Chechyns,
Mordvins, Tatars, Kalmyks, Volga Deutsch, Urdmurts, Mari, Bashkirs,
Ingush, Cherkess, Avars, Laks, etc.] This bears watching.
