Jews were displaced after WW II as well as millions of other DP's of all nationalities. It is false to claim Jews were forced to leave most of Europe. They were citizens of many countries and retained their citizenship. Many did remain in Europe and in fact thrived in post war Europe. Why must the Palestinians pay the price for Europe's anti-Semitism. (I hate that made up word since the Palestinians are Semites and the term is rediculously used against them). Israel was founded based on religious myth and racist ideology. It was the last gasp of European Colonialism in the 20th century. It cannot be denied Palestinians were dispossesed, occupied and terrorized. Of course the colonialist Jews cannot be singled out. Oppression and occupation has been carried out throughout History by many different groups - however it is the height of hypocrisy when the Israelis and pro Israel Jews invoke some kind of moralistic highground. In any event, Israel does exist and there is no doubt the great majority of Palestinians would live in peace if the fanatic Zionists would agree to the establishment of a viable Palestine State along the green line border. Of course the fanatic Sharonites (some want to kill even him because even that fanatic murderer is not fanatic enough!) never will agree to that. They want the whole enchilada. If they could get away with it, they would 'ethnically cleanse' the Gaza and West Bank of all Palestinians. Many of the Lukidniks have openly called for the forcible removal of all Arabs from Israel and Palestine. Lukid leaders have called Arabs 'lice' and unhuman creatures. Please don't claim that Israel is the 'only democracy' in the Middle East. It is a democracy at the level of Alabama in the 1950's. Just as American Blacks were a subjugated people in the South, the Israeli Arabs are confined by racist law and policy to a 'separate and unequal' corner of Israeli society. By law and political action they are relegated to inferior schools, housing, public services, employment. They can't be in the Army (even the American Army was desegrated by Harry Truman). Israeli Arabs can't even marry a non-Israeli or freely travel. Unfortunately for Israel, demographics always wins in the end. Israel is becoming more and more isolated and univerally hated- just like Apartheid South Africa. Soon Israel will be like the old white South Africa - trying to viciously subjugate an angry Arab majority - a losing battle. I blame American Jews for Israel's terrible situation. Without American Jews exercising their enormous political muscle (nothing nefarious here - that is the American way - I blame feckless Amercan politicians for being so craven) Israel would not be the US subsidized militaristic, terrorist state it has become - poisoning its own society through militarism and terror. Without this destructive American subsidy, the rational Israelis would have taken control and forced an accommodation with the rational Arabs.
