Upon reading the letter from the U.S. State Dept, to Congresswoman Johnson of Texas (below) dated 30 July, 04, more and more questions are raised about the Monitoring of our elections. First, the letter indicated to me that our elections were also monitored in the Nov, 02 General election by this organization OSCE. I must add, very few Americans knew their elections were being monitored by foreign countries. Secondly, It also indicates that the U. S. Agreed to this arrangement in 1990 in Copenhagen, Denmark. This would have been during the First Bush (#41) Administration. Right?? Who was Sec. of State at the time?? Thirdly, Did Congress AUTHORIZE this?? This deserves an answer. If not why not?? Fourth, Who is paying for this?? It appears to me that Congress allowed this to happen and it should be up to Congress to STOP this "monitoring". The MAJORITY of the American people do not know this and Congress certainly has not told the American people and neither has the news media. It is becoming increasingly more obvious each day that Congress is not interested in the WILL of the people. Congress has most certainly lost their collective way both Republicans and Democrats. Both Parties are equally RESPONSIBLE and are failing in their responsibilities. Tell me that I am wrong. Finally, in America WE DON'T WANT TO BE MONITORED even though it may be just to act as observers. The 27 Million Veterans, 1.9 MILLION military retirees living today nor the Millions that served before us, DID NOT SERVE to keep America and Democracy free just to have Congress give away those Freedoms.
