Why is it some types just can't simply discuss things honestly? If you were in Nam "3 times" AND you fought in the boonies you are deluded or have a convenient memory if you think your fellow grunts were fighting for LBJ, Nixon, the fluttering flag, or George Washington. We were fighting to stay alive and to cover each other's asses. BTW, plenty of careerists (Army, CIA, State Dept., A.I.D. etc.) stayed many years in Nam because they were living like kings - living with beautiful, sexy, young girls in fancy Saigon houses or hotels, raking in the $$$$ on the black market or milking billions in US contracts (Haliburton's predecessors), selling dope, etc. Many secretly owned bars, hotels, and brothels. Ever hear of Nugan-Hand bank? Did every GI commit atrocites. Of course not. Anyone who claimed 'all' did is a liar. Many did commit atrocities and state terrorism was the unofficial official policy of the Pentagon. What the hell do you think Johnson and Nixon were thinking about when they authorized mass bombing. Do you think hitting civilians with bombs from planes is not terrorism? Or is it only 'terrorism' when the bombers are too poor to afford a jet or tank and have to personally deliver it rather then from 1000's of feet in the sky?? For your info I volunteered for the Army and V.N. When it comes to atrocities, all wars have atrocities. I did and saw many interesting things, some still classified. V.C. heads on sticks, ear necklaces, balls and vulvas clipped to hand generators, civilian villages bombed intentionally,regular assassinations of 'suspected' VC AND THEIR ENTIRE FAMILIES were everyday occurences all over the country.
