The canvass (audit) will take place from Nov. 3-12. Yes, this will be the dirtiest election ever. ELECTIONS CONTROL POWER AND MONEY Nationwide, there are 3,066 counties, and 10,000 jurisdictions. Vast amounts of money and power flow through these conduits. If you assume that no one will attempt to exploit election systems, including targeting the officials who run the system, you ignore history. In San Bernardino County, California, a dozen county officials and private citizens were convicted of bribery on government contracts in just four years. Arkansas Secretary of State Bill McCuen was convicted on corruption charges. Louisiana�s chief election official, Jerry Fowler was convicted for taking bribes. If you have any doubt that people get bought off in the real world, do a news search with terms like �indicted� �bribes� �official� �convicted.� County commissioners and supervisors make construction, land use and zoning decisions that control huge profits for developers. These positions are traditional targets for corruption and these are the same people who may be in charge of local election officials. In a typical presidential election, up to a billion dollars in campaign financing pushes candidates for office. Some of this goes for operatives. Historically, some operatives have always taken short-cuts: buying fake voters, suppressing votes, altering tallies. It happens. Get over it. Jump in, take action, get involved, and protect the republic. SHOULD ELECTIONS OFFICIALS BE INSULTED BY CONCERNS ABOUT INSIDE ACCESS? You, as the taxpayer, own the business of government. Secrecy has no place in vote-counting. The latest talking point, cooked up by some PR firm and disseminated to public officials who don�t like transparency, is that scrutiny is �insulting� to elections officials. The implication is that we should trust (instead of verify) the work done by insiders. Ask accountants: Are they insulted if the owner wants to look at a bank statement? Can an accountant refuse to let owners see invoices? Of course not.
