--- Begin Message ----Caveat Lector- NAZI CONNECTIONS TO KATHERINE HARRISBy Alex Constantine Research Assistance by Linda Minor "If there is no law of God by which to judge the state, then the state has become God." - Dr. Francis Schaeffer "We have absorbed into our own legal system the German tyranny that we fought and inveighed against... - Abraham Pomerantz, U.S. Deputy Chief Counsel, Nuremberg Trials. ... And then there are your fundamentalist Christians - Katherine Harris, an excellent case in point, the eye of the storm in the 2000 Florida election. Truly, we hardly knew her. Harriss biography, when it is written, will not be complete without a long chapter on her Christian identity. Will Durst may beat his chest - God will not be satisfied until Katherine Harris is where she belongs: in prison...1 - but there is a place for Ms. Harris in Valhalla and others wish her godspeed. Researcher Linda Minor is one: The recent election scenario in Florida must have been in the works for several years. (Indeed, Harris contracted with DataBase/ChoicePoint to clean up the eligible voters rolls in 1998.) It appears Ms. Harris had been involved in a Christian group called L'Abri. After graduation from Agnes Scott College, Ms. Harris attended the LAbri Fellowship Academy, founded by Dr. Francis Schaeffer, a fundamentalist Christian school with a web site that argues Christianity should be infused not just in the private life, but the public life of the follower. Turns out that Schaeffer joined the American Council of Christian Churches [ACCC] ... founded by Carl McIntire.2 The ACCC may have looked like a church and walked like a church, but in reality it was an FBI front that peddled Birch Society propaganda - in concert with scores of other Cold War propaganda-frothing religious fronts across the country - in its radio sermons. The Birch Society received much of its early funding and guidance from Hitlers loyalists in Germany bent on a comeback.3 The Torbitt Document (a roller-coaster ride through the shadows of the Cold War corporate sector lurking behind the murder of John F. Kennedy) describes a religious group called the American Council of Christian Churches. ACCC's West Coast representative, E.E. Bradley, was indicted by the New Orleans Grand Jury for complicity in the assassination. ACCC launched a campaign in 1964, at J. Edgar Hoover's request, to elect him President of the United States. In 1941, J. Edgar Hoover recruited Carl McIntire to assemble an intelligence front, the ACCC, headquartered in New York. This group was able to take in many innocent religious groups who did not know they were connected with a spy and propaganda agency. However, Hoover and McIntire through this guise were able to place agents posing as ministers and missionaries throughout the United States and most Latin American countries.4 Driven by spirit - but controlled covertly by the FBI and other intelligence agencies - the evangelicals were inexhaustible ... and well-funded. In Kennedys day, the religious right had expenditures up to $25-million each year, with contributions from 70 foundations, 113 corporations, 25 utility companies and some 250 individual donors.5 In 1947, Dr. Shaeffer toured Europe as a board representative of the Presbyterian Foreign Missions, and American secretary for the ACCCs foreign relations department. A year later, he moved with family in tow to Lausanne, Switzerland to do missionary work, moved on the following year to Champery, Switzerland, where he wrote Basic Bible Studies founded LAbri in 1955.6 Katherine Harris is the granddaughter of Ben Hill Griffin, Jr., the wealthy Florida orange grower and land developer. The football stadium at University of Florida is named after him. Katherine tied the knot with millionaire Anders Ebbeson, an IBM marketing executive and socialite. All the while, writes James Brock, she maintained a strong, evangelical Christian identity. The model LAbri girl is someone who finds relationships to the Bible in all activities, events, and situations, someone who witnesses and testifies continually. (The similarity to her Muslem counterparts is apparent.) She has used the 911 atrocities to further her political ambitions, of course. Brock: With the dissolution of the Florida Secretary of State position as an elected office, Katherine Harris now must go on her own [to] seek in 2002 the open Congressional seat in her home district, Sarasota, a sure bastion of Republicanism. In fact, in her October 2, 2001, announcement to run for Congress, Harris prefaced her announcement, citing that the terrorist attacks of September 11 as an inspiration for her to run for higher office. A year after the presidential election crisis, Harris still saw her mission to run for office as an answer to a higher calling, a saintly duty, in her announcement. She said that she was running to serve this president, and our nation.7 Dr. Schaeffers academy has turned out others who have found fame. James C. Kopp, the confessed killer of Amherst's Dr. Barnett A. Slepian, an abortion doctor, studied in Switzerland with Francis Schaeffer, a pro-life theologian, according to a Buffalo News report.8 Kopp was chief strategist for the Lambs of Christ. "He was their advance intelligence agent," says Frederick Clarkson, author of Eternal Hostility: The Struggle Between Theocracy and Democracy (Common Courage Press). Kopp allied himself with the Society of St. Pius X, a breakaway Catholic group that once harbored a Nazi war criminal and that has parishes in the Irish town where he fled after shooting Slepian and the French town where he was captured. In the early 1970s, Schaeffer made the rounds with politicians in the conservative flanks of the Republican party. He linked up with Jack Kemp, who introduced him to a number of Washington officials. One L'Abri student was Gerald Ford's son, Michael. For ten years, Kemps wife Joanne taught a Bible class for congressional wives.9 Their Christian identities were also ingrained.
