--- Begin Message --- Jim, it seems to me that, before accusing a candidate you dislike of having "no shame," you would be wise to exhibit some healthy skepticism and do at least a little basic research of your own.

I'd like to see spiker's source for his "timeline" -- particularly his statements that Reeve went into the coma on Thursday (rather than Saturday as stated by every press account I've read), and that Kerry claimed to have spoken to Reeve in person (rather than simply receiving a long voicemail). If he can refute the press account (e.g. <http://www.theherald.co.uk/news/25832.html>), let him do so. Then perhaps he should head on over to <http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1242882/posts> and let the freepers know, because even that bunch of rabid Kerry-bashers decided weeks ago that this "story" was DOA:

The facts as I understand them are these:

1. Reeves developed a systemic infection from a bedsore that grew progressively worse over the period of a week, until he lapsed into a coma sometime on Saturday. I have not seen information identifying precisely when he was admitted to the hospital, but when he was admitted, he had already slipped into a coma.

2. Kerry claimed in a speech that he had received a phone call from Reeves on Saturday, congratulating him on raising the stem cell research issue in the debate Friday.

3. The call was voice, not text message. Kerry spoke about the emotion he heard in Reeve's voice.

4. I have subsequently seen it claimed that Kerry did not speak live with Reeve, but listened to a voice message left on an answering machine. That seems very plausible.

5. If Reeve left a voice message, he could easily have done so Friday night, right after the debate, and Kerry might well not have heard it until Saturday.

6. So, as of now, there is no "smoking gun" evidence proving that Kerry is lying.

Meanwhile, of course, spiker doesn't exactly lend himself credibility by hauling out the old "Gore said he invented the Internet" malarkey. (We do all know that this is malarkey by now, right? If not, a visit to <http://www.perkel.com/politics/gore/internet.htm> or <http://www.snopes.com/quotes/internet.htm> may be in order.)

Last Saturday Senator Kerry said that Christopher Reeve called him to thank him for mentioning him in the debate on Friday night.  The Senator said "you could hear the emotion in his voice."
Timeline:
·        Reeve went into a coma on Thursday night, Oct. 7th.
·        Debate mention of Reeve was on Friday night, Oct. 8th.
·        Kerry statement that he talked with Reeves Saturday Oct. 9th.
·        Reeve died on Sunday Oct. 10th without regaining consciousness.

One may think that this would be a big deal and that it would be all over the news in the past two or three days.

I expect that if (God forbid) Kerry is elected, that he will be able to channel and discuss policy with Lincoln and the other JFK.

Also yesterday, Senator Edwards said to a high school group that if Kerry would have been president, Christopher Reeve would still be alive.  What does Dr. Edwards know that all the other doctors and scientists don't know??????????

Now imagine if either Bush or Chaney would have said something so stupid.

This "LIE" is as big as Gore inventing the Internet.
