Very often what seems to be 2 or more members who constantly wage war against each other is really just one person operating under multiple IDs; the tactic is used to try to get other members engaged in vitriolic verbiage, and to distract real members -- and hence the list itself -- away from really important issues and especially any breaking events.
You can usually predict when something really important is afoot that *they* want to distract you from noticing or being aware of by the greater *noise* ratio they create on the list, for example the recent debate about circumcision when Lebanon was about to erupt...
I've been a member of this list for at least a decade, and I've seen quite a few of these trolls and disinfo artists (and been instrumental in outing a few myself)...in recent years I haven't had the time to devote to this list that I had in the past, but I still make it a point to check in every few days, and in the past year or so I have really been disappointed at the high proportion of chaff to wheat.
Hopefully the list's rules -- clearly delineated at the bottom of every post -- will resume being enforced and this list can return to the valuable resource that it once was instead of the pissing contest it has been lately.....
