AVALANCHE OF NEW DATA ON BALKANS WAR
====================================

(CNNS, 05/09/99) -- An avalanche of new data regarding the true
situation behind unfolding events in Yugoslavia has surfaced in
the past few days. Here is a rundown on several items:

** Today, on the PBS program, The McLaughlin Group, the host and
commentators made several predictions. John McLaughlin,
moderator of the program, predicts that the Balkans fiasco will
result in the ouster of U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine
Albright. She, says McLaughlin, will be replaced by
former-Senator George Mitchell. Another panelist foresees
breaking news in which we will learn that reconstruction of the
bombed-out Yugoslav region will cost many billions of dollars. A
third panelist predicts a breaking story on how some Kosovo
refugees are being exploited by Albania's mafia. Apparently,
some of the refugees are being turned into sex slaves and
exported to "the fleshpots of Europe."
McLauglin's broadcast was also notable in that it freely
showed horrific footage of Serb civilian casualties, caused by
NATO's bombardment. Such footage showing the heart-breaking hurt
being done to Serb civilians is hardly ever seen on American
television. McLaughlin also reported on how the U.N.
commissioner on human rights has now included NATO as a likely
subject for charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Also covered was news of a dramatic shift in public opinion in
Germany, where larger numbers of German people have suddenly
turned against the war in Yugoslavia. A recent poll there showed
support had quickly dropped by 20 percent, from about 52 percent
support to 32 percent support.

** Robert Novak, a syndicated columnist with the Chicago
Sun-Times, corroborates the previous report from this news
service, in which CNNS argued that Yugoslav civilians had become
deliberate targets of NATO's bombing campaign. Novak writes, in
part, that "Pentagon sources admit that the attacks on the city
center of Belgrade are intended to so demoralize ordinary
citizens that they force President Slobodan Milosevic to yield...
Civilian damage and casualties in Kosovo and elsewhere in Serbia
are too widespread to be accidental." [1] Also, a report by
Agence France Presse (AFP) actually uses the term "accidents"
advisedly in a report on Serb civilian casualties:

The attacks were the latest in a series of embarrassing
"accidents" in which NATO planes have killed civilians in
strikes on a bus, a train, a Kosovo refugee convoy and
residential areas in several Serbian towns. [2]

The AFP story goes on to report that many Belgrade residents
"simply do not believe the claims, repeated frequently by NATO
spokesmen in Brussels and other western political leaders, that
civilians are not the target." Also indicative of a newly-begun
anti-civilian aspect behind NATO's airstrikes is the question of
why is NATO bombing and re-bombing targets that have long-since
been thoroughly destroyed: "What is the point of that?" asked
Tijana Vukotic, a 24-year-old student in Belgrade. "Repeated
bombing of empty or destroyed buildings is definitely aimed at
making people suffer." [3]

** Corroborating a report issued by CNNS special correspondent
"Ru Mills" (pseudonym) and published earlier today by this news
service, is a report out today from Itar-Tass. Mills had
reported that the recent attack on the Chinese embassy in
Belgrade, according to her inside source, was in no way an
accident. In "US Bombers Target China Embassy in Belgrade for
Strikes," Itar-Tass states that U.S. B-2 bombers which demolished
the Chinese embassy in Belgrade may indicate a "war within a
war," where the U.S., for covert reasons of its own, sometimes
operates independently of NATO. Itar-Tass reports that some
experts believe that the attack on the Chinese embassy reveals a
"special direction" with aims not connected to NATO's. Itar-Tass
backs up their suggestion of two parallel wars in Yugoslavia by
citing an earlier report by the London Telegraph newspaper.
According to Itar-Tass, the London Telegraph had previously
reported "referring to military sources, that the U.S. conducts,
in actual fact, two wars against Yugoslavia..." [4]

** A further intriguing circumstance is Bill Clinton's unsavoury
connections with Red China. The still-suppressed Cox Report may
shed more light on connections between Chinese "campaign
contributions" to Clinton and special treatment they have
received in return. Clinton, says CNNS special correspondent
Sherman Skolnick, "is tied hand and foot to the Red Chinese."
With this in mind, the possibility is there that the bombing of
the Chinese embassy was not done with Clinton's approval but
under the orders of some other faction within the U.S.
government.
A CNNS reader has broached the idea that the war in Yugoslavia
undermines U.S. military capabilities to respond to any crisis in
Asia. His concern is that China might make "a sudden grab for
Taiwan." A Reuters article dated May 8th, 1999, refers to Taiwan
as belonging under the purview of Red China's "internal affairs."
Reuters amazingly reports that "NATO's aerial war has fuelled
Beijing's deepest fears and insecurities about Western
intervention in its own internal affairs, particularly in Taiwan
and Tibet." [5]. Taiwan is now part of China's internal
affairs!!??
Was the bombing of the Chinese embassy ordered by high-ranking
U.S. military brass who secretly despise Clinton? Skolnick has
repeatedly reported that many in the military privately oppose
Clinton and his policies.
