This kind of study has popped up a few times in recent years IIRC.
And it's absolutely correct - as far as it goes. Yup, humans *are*
social creatures, mostly. [Present company excluded.] Yup, social
interactions *are* good for us. Yup, being with other people *does*
make you want to live longer, gives you reason to live, extends life.
But I don't know of any study that looks at OTHER social interactions
than just 'churchgoing'; nor whether religious attendance outside the
US follows the same pattern; nor whether other factors [diet, income,
education, etc] correlate more strongly with lifespan than does just
'churchgoing.' And how about the differences between sects and their
structures? Are temples, mosques, synagogues, tabernacles, kivas,
pyramids, sacred groves, solar alters, any more or less healthy than
Catholic/Orthodox/Protestant 'churches?' Do Baptists outlive Quakers,
Baha'is, Mormons, Sufis, Satanists, birdwatchers, vegetarians, Jedi
knights, webmasters, conspiratorialists, UFO abductees, CIA agents?
