World Bank Approves Loans For China Worth 250 Million Dollars
WASHINGTON, May 26, 1999 -- (Agence France Presse) The World Bank on Tuesday
approved loans worth 250 million dollars for China for water-related
projects.
One loan, worth 100 million dollars, will support efforts to improve the
performance of irrigation systems in the Guanzhong Plain of Shananxi
Province.
A second loan for 150 million dollars will be used for a project to achieve
sustainable development in the Loess Plateau by boosting farm income and
output and improving the ecology of tributary watersheds of the Yellow
