The pics at this site puzzle me. They're not KC-135s--those are four-engine
planes (same airframe as the Boeing 707), and the ones pictured are
twin-engined (BIG engine nacelles, like a 757 or 767). Also, the smoke shown
is coming from the elevators on the tail, as if there was a flare or smoke
generator mounted there, rather than from the underside of the fuselage as it
would if it were coming from tanks mounted within the plane. Can anyone on the
list make a definite ID on the aircraft type?
The text says something about "forming cirrus clouds"--which is (oxy)moronic:
of *course* the smoke forms cirrus or cirrus-like clouds. It can't very well
do anything else.
