Ya, all Swiss males are armed, and crime is low. But all those
armed males are also under strict gov't discipline, undergoing
military training, and drilling regularly. Were all US gunowners
to be similarly enlisted in an *active* militia, meeting and
drilling monthly on pain of losing weapons and privileges, the
crime situation might be different here. But in the US, we're
big on rights without responsibilities, big on freedom without
obligation, big on guns without discipline. Those well-armed,
freedom-enforcing Swiss all live within a military hierarchy,
within constraints that most Americans would find intolerable.
Guns don't prevent crime; social order prevents crime.
