IT TAKES A WHOLE STATE TO RAISE A SENATOR
Hillary Clinton may run into some problems with Kenneth
Starr just about the time her Senate campaign is in full
swing. So says the New York Post which points out that the
independent counsel is still investigating the Travelgate
scandal in which HRC got rid of career White House staffers
in favor of an Arkansas travel firm.
The firm had provided a million dollars in deferred travel
for the Clinton campaign, generosity that helped mightily to
keep the cash-strapped primary effort going. The Clinton
pay-back to the firm -- supervised by HRC -- resulted not
only in the firing of White House employees without cause
but false accusations against Billy Dale, the head of the
travel office, ending in a criminal trial in which the jury
quickly acquitted Dale.
The Post says that the "Starr report is bound to include the
infamous memo from ex-Clinton aide David Watkins saying Mrs.
Clinton was adamant about axing hapless staffers - 'We need
these people out, we need our people in,' it quoted her as
saying.
Ex-Clinton aide Dick Morris yesterday confirmed that he's been
called in next week to meet with FBI agents working for Starr
about matters like Travelgate involving Hillary Clinton."
