-Caveat Lector- You say you have enough things to be paranoid about? Hey, I'll give you one more. The Y2K Problem, real or manufactured, is the IDEAL medium for realizing one of the greatest absolute-power fantasies of Orwellian oligarchs (those rich fat old white guys sipping martinis at the CFR, Bilderbergers, Trilateral Commission, IMF, etc.). Just consider this scenario (I won't stick my neck out so far as to call it a "prediction") ... On or about December 31, 1999, as we're all more or less expecting by now, in the US and around the world, important information management systems will falter and fail -- but when those systems are up and running again, SOME information contained in all their databases will NOT be exactly the same as before. Certain bits of data will have disappeared, becoming NON-information. Other bits of data will have appeared "out of nowhere," inserted unobstrusively, and these will afterward be accepted and defended as genuine, valid "information." Discrepancies will be noted by some, but of course, since individually produced "paper records" can always be falsified more easily than the (NB) COHERENTLY CROSS-REFERRABLE information stored in a variety of different "unconnected" databases, it will be argued that anyone claiming some computerized records have actually been DELETED or CHANGED are simply conspiracy-minded lunatics, "paranoid." But they'll be RIGHT ... Imagine the POSSIBILITIES, given the potentials of ECHELON, and PROMIS, with its "trapdoor" and e-bugging microchip, plus an army of "hackers" marshalled under the auspices of NSA and the CIA and/or the 'Octopus.' (Notice that the government is giving INORDINATE attention to finding and corralling "hackers," while simultaneously studying the art of "hacking" PROACTIVELY, under the guise of "national defense.") Remember what happened to Sandra Bullock's character in the movie THE NET? Now, imagine it happening in real life, but on a COLLECTIVE scale, systematically ..
