-Caveat Lector- Re: Rattlesnake Slang/John Wright: In this letter he wrote, Mr. Wright has committed one crime in the state of Ohio, presuming the law is still on the books.... Years ago when I was a Clerk of Court in a small town, an arrest order came across my desk (I wore 5 hats almost)....whereby the officer wanted to arrest a man for calling him "Chicken Shit" cop - and this man was a local insurance broker who had only received a $2.00 parking ticket, on which he wrote the message, signed his name, but refused to pay the $2.00. He had not paid his fine, nor did he come to court....so The case escalated: He now wanted the guy arrested for using profanity......and I thought profanity, that is using God's name in vain....how is "Chicken Shit Cop" profanity - does this Officer believe he has attained a God like status? Well, this was in 1960....and my boss, an attorney during the daytime called to see what was new....and I told him I had a profanity warrant.....he said "pay the two dollars, and I will pay you back"...which I did. But the officer wanted to with a passion, pursue the profanity charge, and of course, the Mayor/Judge refused to permit this to happen. Years later, inbetween tours in the Mayors Office, I pulled my car out of the garage to sell where it had been sitting for 10 years...but the tags expired....suddenly at my door was an officer with a ticket.....he was very flattering saying "are you sure that is your birthdate...." - he thought I was so much younger....well, who could get angry at him. Instead, I called the Police and said I would not pay any fine, I would not come to Court, and they threatened to take my car and tow it away....and it was then, I had my greatest moment.....I said "I am going to sit shotgun on my car and you will never take me alive, coppers".... Well, that night the City Council President and the husband of another City Council Member, came to my home and pushed m car back into the garage....and the newly elected Mayor, paid my ticket....and you can be sure the first arrest warrant for not appearing in Court, was mine...my old political enemies saw to that.....instead, I was told the Mayor said I will take care of that, and out of his own pocket paid a bond forfeiture.....the charge, my license plate was expired sitting in my own driveway. Later that day, though, several people dropped to buy it - and it was not for sale....had only been driven a year, but the traffic was just too intolerable and I had been rearended three days straight, just waiting for a light to change. Though I have never even held a gun but once in my life, and would not have one in my home (I have a friendly pit bull, strictly defensive of course).....the happiest day of my life was when I said "You;'ll never take me alive coppers"....and hung up. I laffed all day....nobody took me serious, however..... When I read Mr. Wrights letter, and he says "God Damn...." over, and over again, now that, is profanity and you know, he could be put in the slammer too, for that one. But why is this man, that upset and disturbed.....I hope he does not live in Ohio, because one of these "Chicken Shit" cops might arrest him for using profanity, inasmuch as some of them seem to be playing God in the many roles they play in daily living.... Now too, how is that for a separtion of Church and State. Mr. Wright, God Loves Americans, well maybe with a few exceptions - and I am waiting for that lightning bolt to hit one of them in the arse.
